క్యాన్సర్తో బాధపడుతున్న హైదరాబాద్కు చెందిన గిగ్ అండ్ ప్లాట్ఫామ్ వర్కర్ మెట్టుకుపల్లి కొండల్ రెడ్డికి తెలంగాణ ప్రభుత్వం అండగా నిలిచింది. ముఖ్యమంత్రి రేవంత్ రెడ్డి ఆదేశాల మేరకు నిమ్స్ ఆసుపత్రిలో ఆయనకు అవసరమైన వైద్య చికిత్సను ఉచితంగా అందించేలా అధికారులు చర్యలు చేపట్టారు.
కొండల్ రెడ్డి దాదాపు పదేళ్లుగా ఉబర్ డ్రైవర్గా పనిచేస్తున్నారు. తెలంగాణ గిగ్ అండ్ ప్లాట్ఫామ్ వర్కర్స్ యూనియన్ సభ్యుడైన ఆయన 7,620 ట్రిప్పులు పూర్తి చేసి 4.76 స్టార్ రేటింగ్ సాధించినట్లు తెలంగాణ సీఎంఓ తెలిపింది.
కొంతకాలంగా ఆయన నాలుగో దశ కాలేయ, ప్యాంక్రియాటిక్ క్యాన్సర్తో బాధపడుతున్నారు. అనారోగ్యం కారణంగా పని చేయలేని పరిస్థితి ఏర్పడటంతో కుటుంబం ఆర్థిక ఇబ్బందులను ఎదుర్కొంటోంది. ఆయనకు పాఠశాలకు వెళ్లే ఇద్దరు కుమార్తెలు ఉన్నారు.
వైద్య చికిత్స కోసం సహాయం చేయాలని కొండల్ రెడ్డి ఉబర్ ఇండియాను కోరినట్లు సీఎంఓ తెలిపింది. ఈ విషయం కార్మిక శాఖ మంత్రి వివేక్ వెంకటస్వామి దృష్టికి వెళ్లడంతో ఆయన చొరవ తీసుకున్నారు.
ముఖ్యమంత్రి సహాయ నిధి నుంచి కొండల్ రెడ్డికి రూ.2,77,500 ఆర్థిక సాయం అందించారు. అంతేకాకుండా నిమ్స్ ఆసుపత్రిలో ప్రభుత్వమే పూర్తి స్థాయి వైద్య చికిత్స అందించాలని ముఖ్యమంత్రి ఆదేశించారు.
కొండల్ రెడ్డికి ప్రభుత్వం అందించిన సహాయంపై తెలంగాణ గిగ్ అండ్ ప్లాట్ఫామ్ వర్కర్స్ యూనియన్ అధ్యక్షుడు షేక్ సలావుద్దీన్ కృతజ్ఞతలు తెలిపారు. క్లిష్ట పరిస్థితుల్లో ఉన్న కుటుంబానికి ప్రభుత్వం అండగా నిలిచిందని పేర్కొన్నారు.

The Telangana government has extended financial and medical support to Hyderabad-based gig and platform worker Mettukupally Kondal Reddy, who is undergoing treatment for Stage 4 liver and pancreatic cancer.
According to the Telangana Chief Minister’s Office, officials have arranged free treatment for Kondal Reddy at NIMS Hospital in Hyderabad following Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s directions.
Kondal Reddy has worked as an Uber driver for nearly a decade and is a member of the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union. The Chief Minister’s Office said he completed 7,620 trips with a 4.76-star rating during his period as an Uber driver.
His illness has left him unable to continue working, placing his family under severe financial strain. He has two school-going daughters.
Kondal Reddy had sought assistance for his medical treatment from Uber India. The matter was subsequently brought to the attention of Telangana Labour Minister Vivek Venkataswamy, who took up the issue.
A financial assistance cheque of Rs 2,77,500 was provided to Kondal Reddy from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The Chief Minister also directed officials to ensure that the government provides the required treatment at NIMS Hospital.
The Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union welcomed the assistance. Its president Shaik Salauddin expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister, the Labour Minister and CMO officials for supporting the worker and his family during the difficult period.
