తెలంగాణలో ఫుట్బాల్ను ప్రోత్సహించడం వెనుక కేవలం క్రీడాపై ప్రేమ మాత్రమే కాకుండా దీర్ఘకాలిక దృష్టి ఉందని ముఖ్యమంత్రి రేవంత్ రెడ్డి పేర్కొన్నారు. తాను క్రీడాభిమాని, ముఖ్యంగా ఫుట్బాల్ అభిమానినని పేర్కొంటూ, ప్రపంచ ప్రఖ్యాత ఫుట్బాల్ ఆటగాడు లియోనెల్ మెస్సీని హైదరాబాద్కు తీసుకువచ్చి తెలంగాణ చిన్నారులతో ఒకే మైదానంలో ఆడే అవకాశం కల్పించిన రోజు తనకు ఎంతో ప్రత్యేకమని గుర్తు చేసుకున్నారు.
అయితే, ఫిఫా ప్రపంచకప్కు తన మద్దతు వెనుక ఉన్న అసలు లక్ష్యం భారత ఫుట్బాల్ భవిష్యత్తును బలోపేతం చేయడమేనని ఆయన స్పష్టం చేశారు. భారత ఫుట్బాల్ జట్టు ఒక రోజు ఫిఫా ప్రపంచకప్ ఫైనల్స్కు అర్హత సాధించి, ప్రపంచ వేదికపై పోటీ పడుతుందని తనకు పూర్తి నమ్మకం ఉందన్నారు.
ఆ భవిష్యత్ జట్టులో తెలంగాణకు చెందిన పలువురు యువ ఫుట్బాల్ క్రీడాకారులు ఉండబోతున్నారని రేవంత్ రెడ్డి ధీమా వ్యక్తం చేశారు. రాష్ట్రంలో ప్రతిభావంతులైన యువతకు మెరుగైన శిక్షణ, క్రీడా మౌలిక సదుపాయాలు, అంతర్జాతీయ స్థాయి అవకాశాలు కల్పించడం ద్వారా ఫుట్బాల్ అభివృద్ధికి ప్రభుత్వం కట్టుబడి ఉందని ఆయన సంకేతమిచ్చారు.
Revanth Reddy said his support for football is driven by a broader vision to strengthen the future of the sport in India. Calling himself a passionate sports enthusiast and a die-hard football fan, he recalled the memorable occasion when football legend Lionel Messi visited Hyderabad and shared the field with children from Telangana.
He said that experience reflected the state’s commitment to inspiring young athletes. According to the Chief Minister, the larger objective is to help Indian football grow to a level where the national team qualifies for the FIFA World Cup finals.
Revanth Reddy expressed confidence that when India reaches the FIFA World Cup finals, several players from Telangana will be part of the squad. He indicated that the state will continue focusing on sports infrastructure, quality coaching and opportunities for young footballers to achieve success at the international level.
