Three Arrested for Abetment of Suicide After ‘Hidden Treasure’ Fraud in Telangana

రంగారెడ్డి జిల్లా మొకిల పోలీస్ స్టేషన్ పరిధిలో జరిగిన దంపతుల ఆత్మహత్య కేసులో కీలక పరిణామం చోటుచేసుకుంది. ఐదు నెలల చిన్నారిని అనాథగా మార్చిన ఈ విషాద ఘటనలో, నిధి దొరుకుతుందనే పేరుతో రూ.10 లక్షలు తీసుకుని ఆర్థికంగా ఇబ్బందులకు గురిచేసిన ఆరోపణలపై మృతుడి అత్తమామలు, బావమరిదిని పోలీసులు అరెస్ట్ చేశారు.
మొకిల సీఐ శ్రీనివాస్ రెడ్డి తెలిపిన వివరాల ప్రకారం, ఫోటోగ్రాఫర్ వడ్ల బాలసాయి (32), ఆయన భార్య పద్మ (26) ఆదివారం జనవాడలో ఉరివేసుకుని ఆత్మహత్య చేసుకున్నారు. మృతుడి సోదరుడు అరవింద్ ఇచ్చిన ఫిర్యాదు మేరకు పోలీసులు కేసు నమోదు చేసి దర్యాప్తు ప్రారంభించారు.
దర్యాప్తులో భాగంగా బాలసాయి మొబైల్ ఫోన్ను పరిశీలించగా, “నన్ను, నా భార్యను మా అత్తింటి వారు మోసం చేశారు. మా మరణానికి వారే కారణం. మమ్మల్ని క్షమించండి” అని రాసిన సందేశాన్ని పోలీసులు గుర్తించారు. దీంతో ఆ కోణంలో విచారణ చేపట్టగా, వివాహం అనంతరం పద్మ కుటుంబ సభ్యులు ఇంట్లో నిధి ఉందని, పూజలు చేయడానికి రూ.10 లక్షలు అవసరమని నమ్మించి డబ్బు తీసుకున్నట్లు వెల్లడైంది.
బాలసాయి పరిచయస్తుల వద్ద అధిక వడ్డీకి అప్పు తీసుకుని ఆ మొత్తాన్ని ఇచ్చినప్పటికీ, తవ్వకాలలో ఎలాంటి నిధి లభించలేదు. అప్పులు తీర్చాలని రుణదాతల ఒత్తిడి పెరగడంతో డబ్బు తిరిగి ఇవ్వాలని బాలసాయి పలుమార్లు కోరినా స్పందన రాలేదని పోలీసులు తెలిపారు. దీంతో తీవ్ర మనస్తాపానికి గురైన దంపతులు జనవాడలోని తమ ఇంట్లో ఆత్మహత్య చేసుకుని, ఐదు నెలల కుమారుడిని అనాథగా విడిచిపెట్టారు.
ఈ కేసులో ఆత్మహత్యకు ప్రేరేపించిన ఆరోపణలపై శాంతమ్మ, చంద్రయ్య, వెంకటేష్లను పోలీసులు అరెస్ట్ చేసి రిమాండ్కు తరలించారు.

A major development has emerged in the suicide case of a young couple under the Mokila Police Station limits in Rangareddy district, Telangana. Police have arrested the deceased man’s in-laws and co-brother on charges of abetment of suicide after an investigation revealed that the couple was allegedly driven into severe financial distress through a “hidden treasure” deception.
According to Mokila Circle Inspector Srinivasa Reddy, photographer Vadla Balasai (32) and his wife Padma (26) died by suicide at their residence in Janwada on Sunday. Acting on a complaint filed by Balasai’s brother Aravind, police registered a case and launched an investigation.
During the probe, officers examined Balasai’s mobile phone and found a message stating that he and his wife had been deceived by his in-laws, whom he held responsible for their deaths. Police then investigated the family’s financial transactions and found that the couple had allegedly been persuaded to arrange ₹10 lakh after being told that hidden treasure existed beneath the in-laws’ house and that rituals were required to recover it.
Believing the claim, Balasai reportedly borrowed ₹10 lakh at high interest from acquaintances and handed over the money. No treasure was found, and the money was not returned. As creditors began demanding repayment, the couple allegedly faced mounting financial pressure. Unable to recover the money and overwhelmed by debt, they died by suicide, leaving behind their five-month-old son.
Police have arrested Shantamma, Chandrayya, and Venkatesh on charges of abetment of suicide and produced them before the court, which remanded them to judicial custody.
