Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy has sought clarification from the Election Commission of India (ECI) regarding the state’s proposal to issue Family Register Certificates (FRCs) during the ongoing Special Intensive Review (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The request follows the state’s decision to introduce Family Register Certificates as part of the electoral roll revision process. According to officials, the CEO has asked the Election Commission to clarify the legal position and procedural aspects before the proposal is implemented.

Officials said the legal implications of issuing FRCs during the Special Intensive Review are currently being examined. The review includes assessing whether the proposed certificates align with existing electoral laws, ECI guidelines and voter registration procedures.
