ఏడాది క్రితం పహల్గామ్ బైసరన్ లోయలో పర్యాటకులు ప్రకృతి అందాలను ఆస్వాదిస్తూ ఫోటోలు దిగుతుండగా, ఒక్కసారిగా అక్కడికి చొరబడ్డ ఉగ్రవాదులు కాల్పులు ప్రారంభించారు. ముఖ్యంగా హిందువులను లక్ష్యంగా చేసుకుని దాడి జరిపినట్లు భద్రతా వర్గాలు వెల్లడించాయి.
ప్రాణాల కోసం పరుగులు తీసిన ప్రజలు, కేకలు వేసిన చిన్నారులు, తమ కుటుంబ సభ్యుల కోసం వెతికిన బాధితులు.. ఆ ప్రాంతం ఒక్కసారిగా యుద్ధభూమిని తలపించింది. ఈ దాడిలో మొత్తం 26 మంది ప్రాణాలు కోల్పోయారు.
మృతుల్లో శుభం ద్వివేది కూడా ఒకరు. ఆయన భార్య ఐశాన్య ద్వివేది ఇప్పటికీ ఆ విషాదం నుంచి పూర్తిగా బయటపడలేకపోతున్నారు. ఒక ఇంటర్వ్యూలో ఆమె తన భర్త జ్ఞాపకాలను గుర్తు చేసుకుంటూ భావోద్వేగానికి గురయ్యారు.
“మేమిద్దరం కలిసి ఉన్న గదిలో అద్దం ఉండేది కాదు. నేను అడిగిన తర్వాత మరుసటి రోజే ఆయన దాన్ని తీసుకువచ్చి అమర్చారు. ఇప్పుడు ఆ అద్దం కనిపిస్తే ఆయన జ్ఞాపకం వెంటాడుతుంది” అని ఆమె కన్నీటి కళ్లతో చెప్పారు.
ఈ ఘటన కేవలం ఒక ఉగ్రదాడి మాత్రమే కాదు, కాశ్మీర్ ఆర్థిక వ్యవస్థకు కూడా భారీ దెబ్బ ఇచ్చింది. పర్యాటక రంగంపై ఆధారపడే హోటళ్లు, గుర్రపు స్వారీ సేవలు, స్థానిక దుకాణాలు, టూరిస్ట్ గైడ్లు తీవ్రంగా నష్టపోయాయి.
పర్యాటకులు రాక తగ్గడంతో అనేక కుటుంబాలు ఆర్థిక ఇబ్బందుల్లోకి వెళ్లిపోయాయి. ఒకప్పుడు సందడిగా ఉండే పహల్గామ్ ప్రాంతం ఇప్పుడు మెల్లగా కోలుకుంటున్నా, ఆ భయం ఇంకా పూర్తిగా తొలగిపోలేదు.
ఈ దాడికి ప్రతీకారంగా భారత ప్రభుత్వం “ఆపరేషన్ సిందూర్” చేపట్టి ఉగ్రవాదుల శిబిరాలపై దాడులు చేసింది. దాదాపు 100 మందికి పైగా ముష్కరులను హతమార్చినట్లు భద్రతా వర్గాలు ప్రకటించాయి. ముఖ్యంగా జైషే మహమ్మద్కు ఇది పెద్ద దెబ్బగా మారింది.

Even after one year, the wounds left by the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley have not healed. Families who lost their loved ones in the Pakistan-backed terrorist firing are still living with deep pain, while Kashmir’s tourism industry continues to struggle with the aftereffects.
A year ago, tourists were enjoying the natural beauty of Baisaran Valley in Pahalgam, taking photographs and spending peaceful moments when heavily armed terrorists suddenly entered the area and opened fire.
Security agencies stated that Hindu tourists were specifically targeted during the attack. Panic spread instantly as people ran for their lives, children screamed in fear, and family members searched desperately for their loved ones. The peaceful tourist spot turned into a battlefield within minutes.
A total of 26 people lost their lives in the attack. Among them was Shubham Dwivedi. His wife, Aishanya Dwivedi, is still unable to recover emotionally from the tragedy.
In an interview, she shared a painful memory of her husband. “There was no mirror in our room. After I asked, he brought one the very next day. Even now, whenever I see that mirror, his memory follows me,” she said with tears in her eyes.
This incident was not only a terror attack but also a major blow to Kashmir’s economy. Hotels, horse-riding services, local shops, and tourist guides who depended heavily on tourism suffered serious losses.
With tourist arrivals dropping sharply due to fear, many local families faced financial hardship. Although Pahalgam is slowly recovering, the fear and emotional scars remain strong.
In response to the attack, India launched “Operation Sindoor” targeting terrorist camps across the border. Security officials stated that more than 100 terrorists were neutralized, delivering a major setback to Jaish-e-Mohammed.
