TGSRTC Driver Attempts Self-Immolation During Protest in Narsampet, Warangal District
తెలంగాణలో టీజీఎస్ఆర్టీసీ కార్మికుల ఆందోళనలు ఉద్రిక్తంగా మారాయి. ఉమ్మడి వరంగల్ జిల్లా నర్సంపేటలో ఆర్టీసీ డ్రైవర్ శంకర్గౌడ్ ఆత్మహత్యాయత్నం చేయడం తీవ్ర కలకలం రేపింది.
ఆర్టీసీని పూర్తిగా ప్రభుత్వంలో విలీనం చేయాలని, కార్మికులను ప్రభుత్వ ఉద్యోగులుగా గుర్తించాలని డిమాండ్ చేస్తూ రాష్ట్రవ్యాప్తంగా రెండో రోజూ కార్మికులు నిరసనలు కొనసాగిస్తున్నారు. ఈ క్రమంలో నర్సంపేట డిపో ఎదుట జరుగుతున్న ఆందోళనలో పాల్గొన్న డ్రైవర్ శంకర్గౌడ్ పెట్రోల్ పోసుకుని నిప్పంటించుకున్నారు.
ఈ ఘటనలో ఆయనకు తీవ్ర గాయాలు అయ్యాయి. వెంటనే అక్కడ ఉన్న సహచర కార్మికులు స్పందించి శంకర్గౌడ్ను ఎంజీఎం ఆస్పత్రికి తరలించారు. ప్రస్తుతం ఆయనకు చికిత్స కొనసాగుతోంది.
గత రెండు రోజులుగా శంకర్గౌడ్ సమ్మెలో చురుకుగా పాల్గొంటున్నట్లు సహచరులు తెలిపారు. ఆకస్మికంగా ఆయన ఈ నిర్ణయం తీసుకోవడం స్థానికంగా ఉద్రిక్తతకు దారితీసింది.
ఘటన అనంతరం ఆర్టీసీ ఉద్యోగులు డిపో ఎదుట ధర్నాకు దిగారు. డిపోలోకి వెళ్లేందుకు ప్రయత్నించగా పోలీసులు వారిని అడ్డుకున్నారు. దీంతో అక్కడ ఉద్రిక్త పరిస్థితులు నెలకొన్నాయి.
ఎలాంటి అవాంఛనీయ సంఘటనలు జరగకుండా పోలీసులు భారీగా మోహరించారు. రాష్ట్రవ్యాప్తంగా డిపోల వద్ద పోలీసు బందోబస్తు మధ్య బస్సులను నడిపేందుకు అధికారులు ప్రయత్నిస్తున్నారు.
కాంట్రాక్ట్ డ్రైవర్లు, కానిస్టేబుళ్ల సహాయంతో అద్దె బస్సులు, ఆర్టీసీ బస్సులను నడిపిస్తున్నారు. నిరసన చేస్తున్న కార్మికులు అడ్డుతగలకుండా ప్రత్యేక భద్రత ఏర్పాటు చేశారు.
ఆర్టీసీ కార్మికుల డిమాండ్లపై ప్రభుత్వం స్పందించాలంటూ ఉద్యోగ సంఘాలు డిమాండ్ చేస్తున్నాయి.

Tension escalated during the TGSRTC employees’ protest in Telangana after a driver allegedly attempted self-immolation in Narsampet of the erstwhile Warangal district.
RTC driver Shankar Goud, who was participating in the ongoing protest, reportedly poured petrol on himself and set himself ablaze in front of the depot, creating panic among employees and local residents.
TGSRTC workers have been protesting for the past two days across Telangana, demanding the merger of RTC into the government and recognition of workers as government employees.
During the protest at the Narsampet depot, Shankar Goud suddenly took the extreme step, leading to chaos at the protest site. He sustained serious burn injuries.
Fellow workers immediately rushed to rescue him and shifted him to MGM Hospital in Warangal for emergency treatment. His condition is currently under medical observation.
Colleagues said Shankar Goud had been actively participating in the strike for the last two days. His sudden suicide attempt intensified tensions among protesting workers.
Following the incident, RTC employees staged a dharna in front of the depot. When workers tried to enter the depot premises, police stopped them, leading to further tension.
Heavy police deployment was arranged to prevent any untoward incidents. Across Telangana, RTC officials are trying to operate buses under police protection.
Authorities are reportedly running RTC and hired buses with the help of contract drivers and police constables while ensuring security near bus depots.
Employee unions are demanding an immediate response from the Telangana government regarding the long-pending RTC merger issue
