What Did KCR Do as Opposition Leader?

ప్రతిపక్ష నేతగా కే. చంద్రశేఖర్రావు తన బాధ్యతలను సమర్థంగా నిర్వహించడం లేదంటూ కాంగ్రెస్ నేతలు విమర్శించారు. వెయ్యి రోజుల కాలంలో ప్రతిపక్ష నేత జీతం, భద్రత, ఇతర సదుపాయాల కోసం ప్రజాధనం ఖర్చవుతున్నప్పటికీ, ప్రజా సమస్యలపై ఆయన నుంచి స్పష్టమైన సూచనలు లేదా చర్చ కనిపించడం లేదని వారు ప్రశ్నించారు. ఈ అంశంపై ముఖ్యమంత్రి రేవంత్ రెడ్డి కూడా ఇటీవల విమర్శలు చేశారు.
“ప్రతిపక్ష నేతకు భయమెందుకు?” అంటూ కాంగ్రెస్ నేతలు కేఆర్ఎస్ను ప్రశ్నించారు. ప్రతిపక్ష పార్టీ నాయకుడిగా కే. చంద్రశేఖర్రావు తన పాత్రను సమర్థంగా పోషించకపోవడం దురదృష్టకరమని పేర్కొన్నారు.
వెయ్యి రోజుల కాలంలో ప్రతిపక్ష నేత జీతాలు, భద్రత, బుల్లెట్ప్రూఫ్ వాహనాలు, ఇతర సదుపాయాల కోసం రూ.21 కోట్లకు పైగా ప్రజాధనం ఖర్చయిందని వారు ఆరోపించారు. ఇదే కాలంలో ప్రజా సమస్యల పరిష్కారానికి ఏదైనా నిర్మాణాత్మక సూచన చేశారా? అని ప్రశ్నించారు. సీఎం రేవంత్ రెడ్డి కూడా కేఆర్ఎస్ ప్రతిపక్ష నేతగా జీతంగా సుమారు రూ.1.24 కోట్లు పొందారని, భద్రత, ఇతర సదుపాయాల కోసం ప్రభుత్వం మరో రూ.21 కోట్లు ఖర్చు చేసిందని పేర్కొన్నారు.
ప్రజలు ఎదుర్కొంటున్న సమస్యలపై అసెంబ్లీలో చర్చించడం, ప్రభుత్వాన్ని ప్రశ్నించడం, అవసరమైన సూచనలు చేయడం ప్రతిపక్ష నేత బాధ్యత అని కాంగ్రెస్ నేతలు అన్నారు. రాబోయే అసెంబ్లీ సమావేశాలకు హాజరై ప్రభుత్వ పనితీరుపై చర్చకు రావాలని రేవంత్ రెడ్డి కేఆర్ఎస్కు సవాల్ చేసిన విషయం తెలిసిందే.
ప్రతిపక్ష నేత పదవికి కే. చంద్రశేఖర్రావు అర్హుడేనా అనే ప్రశ్నను ప్రజల్లోకి తీసుకెళ్లాలని కాంగ్రెస్ నేతలు పేర్కొన్నారు. ప్రజల సమస్యలపై క్రియాశీలకంగా వ్యవహరించకుండా ఆ పదవిలో కొనసాగడం సమంజసం కాదని విమర్శించారు.
Questions raised over KCR’s role as Leader of Opposition
Congress leaders criticised BRS president and Leader of Opposition K. Chandrashekar Rao, alleging that he has not been effectively discharging his responsibilities as the Opposition leader. They questioned what constructive suggestions he had made on public issues despite public expenditure on his salary, security and other facilities.
The criticism comes amid Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s recent political attack on KCR over his reported absence from Assembly proceedings and public engagement. Reddy has challenged KCR to attend the upcoming Assembly session and debate the performance of the Congress government against the previous BRS regime.
Congress leaders asked why an Opposition leader should remain away from active legislative proceedings when his role includes questioning the government, raising public concerns and offering constructive suggestions.
They also cited the expenditure associated with KCR’s position, alleging that more than Rs.21 crore was spent on his security, bullet-proof vehicles and other facilities over the 1,000-day period. Reddy has separately stated that KCR received around Rs.1.24 crore in salary during the same period.
The Congress leaders said the Opposition should play an active role in strengthening democratic accountability and argued that KCR should demonstrate his commitment to the people by participating in Assembly proceedings and taking up public issues.
