భారత ప్రధాన ఎన్నికల కమిషనర్ జ్ఞానేశ్ కుమార్, భారతదేశంలోని నమీబియా రాయబారి అలెక్స్ లున్యాజో టుకుహుప్వెలేతో సమావేశమై ఎన్నికల నిర్వహణ, శిక్షణలో సహకారాన్ని మరింత విస్తరించేందుకు అంగీకరించారు.

భారత ప్రధాన ఎన్నికల కమిషనర్, అలాగే ఇంటర్నేషనల్ ఐడియా (International IDEA) సభ్య దేశాల మండలి ఛైర్మన్ జ్ఞానేశ్ కుమార్ ఢిల్లీలోని నిర్వాచన్ సదన్లో భారతదేశంలోని నమీబియా రాయబారి వింగ్ కమాండర్ అలెక్స్ లున్యాజో టుకుహుప్వెలేతో సమావేశమయ్యారు.

ఈ ఏడాది నిర్వహించిన IICDEM 2026 (International Institute for Democracy and Election Management Conference) ద్వారా ఏర్పడిన సహకారాన్ని మరింత ముందుకు తీసుకెళ్లాలని ఇరు పక్షాలు నిర్ణయించాయి. సమావేశంలో ఎన్నికల నిర్వహణలో పరస్పర సహకారాన్ని పెంపొందించడం, ఎన్నికల అధికారుల శిక్షణలో అనుభవాలను పంచుకోవడం, సామర్థ్యాభివృద్ధిపై కలిసి పనిచేయాలని అంగీకరించారు.

ప్రజాస్వామ్య వ్యవస్థలను బలోపేతం చేయడం, పారదర్శక ఎన్నికల నిర్వహణకు అంతర్జాతీయ స్థాయిలో సహకారాన్ని మరింత విస్తరించేందుకు భారత్–నమీబియా కలిసి పనిచేయనున్నట్లు అధికారులు తెలిపారు.

India, Namibia Agree to Strengthen Cooperation in Election Management

Lead: Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Namibia’s Ambassador to India Alex Lunyazo Tukuhupwele agreed to deepen cooperation in election management and training of election officials.

Chief Election Commissioner of India and Chairman of the Council of Member States of International IDEA, Gyanesh Kumar, met Wing Commander Alex Lunyazo Tukuhupwele, Ambassador of Namibia to India, at Nirvachan Sadan in New Delhi.

Building on the momentum generated at IICDEM 2026, both sides resolved to work closely to advance the agenda discussed during the conference. They agreed to strengthen cooperation in election management, capacity building, and the training of election officials.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of India and Namibia to promote best practices in election administration and enhance international collaboration for stronger democratic institutions.
