Social media posts and several online platforms are circulating claims that Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged Indians not to buy gold for one year due to economic concerns. However, there is currently no official confirmation that the Prime Minister made such a statement.
The viral claims suggest that rising global crude oil prices, pressure on foreign exchange reserves, and concerns over the weakening rupee prompted the alleged appeal.
