Tirupati: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has issued an important travel advisory for devotees visiting Tirumala. Commercial two-wheelers booked through online ride-hailing platforms will not be permitted to use the Tirumala ghat road, according to a report published by TV9 Telugu today.
The restriction specifically applies to app-based bike taxis booked through platforms such as Ola, Rapido and Uber. TTD has also placed awareness flex boards at the Alipiri checkpoint to inform devotees about the restriction.
According to the report, TTD has asked companies providing app-based bike services to remove the Tirumala ride option from their mobile-app mapping. The move has been taken with the safety of pilgrims in mind.
Devotees travelling to Tirumala are therefore advised to make alternative transportation arrangements before reaching the Alipiri checkpoint.
TTD’s official travel information states that regular APSRTC bus services operate between Tirupati and Tirumala. Pilgrims can also travel using their own vehicles and other permitted modes of transport, subject to applicable ghat-road restrictions.
Devotees visiting the Sri Venkateswara temple are advised to follow the latest TTD instructions and check the applicable vehicle restrictions before beginning their journey.
