A new innovation is emerging in the handloom sector in Siricilla, with traditional weaving techniques being combined with modern technology to create innovative saree designs.
The exceptionally talented handloom weaver and artist Nalla Vijay was visited at his home in Siricilla, where his efforts to integrate electronic Jacquard technology with traditional handlooms were appreciated.
Vijay and his team are using electronic Jacquard technology to create sarees featuring innovative and contemporary designs while retaining the traditional character of handloom weaving.
A special saree named ‘Vendi Vennela’, woven using the electronic Jacquard loom, was also formally unveiled during the visit.
The technology is enabling the weavers to develop special products, including sarees featuring gold and silver lace work. The initiative represents an effort to combine traditional handloom craftsmanship with modern weaving technology and develop distinctive products.
