Telangana Police Strengthen Cybercrime Response

తెలంగాణలో పెరుగుతున్న సైబర్ నేరాలపై సమర్థవంతమైన చర్యలు తీసుకునేందుకు డీజీపీ సీవీ ఆనంద్ రాష్ట్రంలోని పోలీస్ కమిషనర్లు, జిల్లా ఎస్పీలు, సైబర్ సెక్యూరిటీ బ్యూరో (CSB) డైరెక్టర్ శిఖా గోయల్తో వీడియో కాన్ఫరెన్స్ నిర్వహించారు. సైబర్ నేరాల దర్యాప్తు, ప్రజల్లో అవగాహన, సామర్థ్యాభివృద్ధి, సాంకేతిక వనరుల వినియోగంపై సమగ్ర సమీక్ష నిర్వహించారు.
ప్రధానమంత్రి నిర్వహించిన ప్రగతి (PRAGATI) సమావేశంలో సైబర్ నేరాలపై ఇచ్చిన మార్గదర్శకాల అమలు పురోగతిని సమావేశంలో సమీక్షించారు. ముఖ్యంగా సైబర్ మోసాల్లో నష్టపోయిన డబ్బు పునరుద్ధరణ (Money Restoration), ఫిర్యాదుల పరిష్కారం, Sahyog మరియు Samanway పోర్టళ్ల వినియోగం, రూ.5 లక్షలకు పైబడిన సైబర్ మోసాల్లో ఆటోమేటిక్ e-Zero FIR నమోదు అంశాలపై అధికారులతో చర్చించారు.
ఇకపై ప్రతి నెల తొలి బుధవారం రాష్ట్రవ్యాప్తంగా నిర్వహించే సైబర్ అవగాహన కార్యక్రమాలకు సైబర్ సెక్యూరిటీ బ్యూరో రాష్ట్ర స్థాయి సమన్వయ సంస్థగా వ్యవహరించనుంది. దీనికి అనుబంధంగా సోషల్ మీడియా ప్రచారాన్ని మరింత విస్తరించనున్నారు. ప్రతి పోలీస్ స్టేషన్లో సైబర్ వారియర్లను తయారు చేయడంతో పాటు పోలీసు అధికారులకు ప్రత్యేక శిక్షణా కార్యక్రమాలు నిర్వహించనున్నారు.
సమావేశంలో ఫోరెన్సిక్ పరికరాల ఆధునీకరణ, పెండింగ్ డేటా అప్లోడ్లు, సైబర్ నేరాల హాట్స్పాట్లు, మ్యూల్ అకౌంట్ నెట్వర్క్లపై కఠిన చర్యలు, అలవాటుగా సైబర్ నేరాలకు పాల్పడేవారిపై అవసరమైతే పీడీ చట్టం ప్రయోగించడం, సైబర్ భద్రతను మరింత బలోపేతం చేయడం వంటి అంశాలపై సమగ్రంగా చర్చించారు.
2025లో తెలంగాణలో సైబర్ నేరాల వల్ల ప్రజలు సుమారు రూ.1,560 కోట్లు నష్టపోగా, సంప్రదాయ దొంగతనాలు, చోరీల వల్ల జరిగిన నష్టం రూ.256 కోట్లు మాత్రమేనని డీజీపీ వెల్లడించారు. ప్రస్తుతం నమోదవుతున్న ప్రతి నాలుగు ఎఫ్ఐఆర్లలో ఒకటి సైబర్ నేరాలకు సంబంధించినదేనని పేర్కొంటూ, దీనిని ప్రధాన పోలీసింగ్ బాధ్యతగా పరిగణించాలని అధికారులకు సూచించారు. సైబర్ సెక్యూరిటీ బ్యూరోతో సమన్వయం, సమాచార భాగస్వామ్యం మరింత బలోపేతం చేయాలని ఆదేశించారు.

Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) C.V. Anand held a video conference with all Police Commissioners, Superintendents of Police, Cyber Security Bureau (CSB) Director Shikha Goel and senior officers to review the state’s response to the growing cybercrime threat.
The meeting reviewed enforcement efforts, capacity building, public awareness initiatives and the implementation of directions issued by the Prime Minister during the recent PRAGATI meeting. Discussions focused on money restoration for cyber fraud victims, grievance redressal, effective use of the Sahyog and Samanway portals, and the automatic registration of e-Zero FIRs in cyber fraud cases involving losses above ₹5 lakh.
The DGP announced that the Cyber Security Bureau will serve as the state-level coordinator for monthly cyber awareness programmes to be conducted on the first Wednesday of every month. The bureau will also intensify social media campaigns, conduct specialised training programmes for police personnel and create dedicated cyber warriors in every police station.
The review also covered the modernisation of forensic equipment, pending data uploads, identification of cybercrime hotspots, strict action against mule account networks, invocation of the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against habitual cyber offenders wherever applicable, and strengthening overall cybersecurity measures.
According to the DGP, cybercrime caused public losses of nearly ₹1,560 crore in Telangana during 2025, compared with ₹256 crore lost in conventional theft and burglary cases. With nearly one out of every four FIRs now related to cybercrime, he urged all field officers to treat cybercrime as a core policing priority and strengthen coordination with the Cyber Security Bureau.
