కేంద్ర, రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వాల సంక్షేమ పథకాలు పొందేందుకు రేషన్ కార్డు అత్యంత కీలక పత్రంగా మారింది. ఉచిత బియ్యం, పింఛన్లు, ఇతర పథకాల లబ్ధి కోసం రేషన్ కార్డు తప్పనిసరి కావడంతో ప్రభుత్వం దాని దుర్వినియోగాన్ని అడ్డుకునేందుకు కఠిన చర్యలు చేపట్టింది.
ఈ క్రమంలో ప్రతి రేషన్ కార్డుదారుడు తమ ఆధార్ను రేషన్ కార్డుతో అనుసంధానం చేసి ఈ-కేవైసీ ప్రక్రియ పూర్తి చేయాలని ఆదేశాలు జారీ అయ్యాయి. వేలిముద్రల ద్వారా బయోమెట్రిక్ ధృవీకరణ తప్పనిసరిగా పూర్తి చేయాల్సి ఉంటుంది.
రేషన్ కార్డులో పేరున్న వారంతా ప్రస్తుతం జీవించి ఉన్నారా, ఒకే వ్యక్తి పేరుతో ఒక్కటే కార్డు ఉందా, వేర్వేరు ప్రాంతాల్లో బహుళ కార్డులు ఉన్నాయా వంటి అంశాలను ఈ-కేవైసీ ద్వారా నిర్ధారించనున్నారు.
ఈ ప్రక్రియ పూర్తి చేయాలంటే సమీపంలోని ఫెయిర్ ప్రైస్ షాప్కు వెళ్లి డీలర్ వద్ద ఉన్న ఈ-పోస్ యంత్రం ద్వారా వేలిముద్రలు నమోదు చేయాలి. దీనినే బయోమెట్రిక్ అథెంటికేషన్గా అధికారులు పేర్కొంటున్నారు.
ప్రభుత్వం నిర్ణయించిన గడువులోగా ఈ ప్రక్రియ పూర్తి చేయని వారి పేర్లను కార్డు నుంచి తొలగించే అవకాశం ఉంది. కొన్ని సందర్భాల్లో మొత్తం కార్డునే రద్దు చేసే అధికారం అధికారులకు ఉంటుంది.
అలాగే వరుసగా మూడు నెలల కంటే ఎక్కువ కాలం రేషన్ తీసుకోని కార్డులను కూడా రద్దు చేసే అవకాశం ఉందని అధికారులు స్పష్టం చేస్తున్నారు. అందువల్ల కార్డును క్రమం తప్పకుండా వినియోగించడం కూడా చాలా ముఖ్యం.
‘వన్ నేషన్ – వన్ రేషన్ కార్డ్’ పథకం కింద ప్రస్తుతం స్వగ్రామంలో లేకపోయినా, దేశంలో ఎక్కడ ఉన్నా సమీప రేషన్ దుకాణంలో ఈ-కేవైసీ పూర్తి చేసుకునే అవకాశం ఉంది.
ప్రభుత్వ పథకాల లబ్ధి నిరంతరంగా కొనసాగాలంటే రేషన్ కార్డు ఈ-కేవైసీని వెంటనే పూర్తి చేసుకోవాలని అధికారులు సూచిస్తున్నారు.

The government has issued a major alert for ration card holders, warning that failure to complete e-KYC and Aadhaar linking may lead to cancellation of ration cards. Officials have already removed lakhs of cards across the country for non-compliance.
Ration cards remain one of the most important documents for accessing central and state government welfare schemes, including free ration distribution, pensions, and other public benefit programs.
To prevent misuse and eliminate fake beneficiaries, the government has made e-KYC mandatory for all ration card holders. Beneficiaries must link their Aadhaar details with the ration card and complete biometric verification through fingerprint authentication.
This process helps authorities verify whether all listed family members are alive, whether a person holds only one ration card, and whether duplicate cards have been issued in multiple locations.
To complete e-KYC, beneficiaries must visit their nearest Fair Price Shop (FPS) and provide fingerprint authentication through the dealer’s e-PoS machine.
Officials warned that if the process is not completed within the deadline fixed by the government, names may be removed from the card. In some cases, the entire ration card may be cancelled.
Authorities also stated that ration cards not used for more than three consecutive months may face cancellation. Regular usage of the card is therefore equally important.
Under the One Nation One Ration Card scheme, even if beneficiaries are staying away from their native place, they can complete e-KYC at any nearby ration shop in India.
The government has urged all ration card holders to complete the process quickly to continue receiving free ration and welfare benefits without interruption.
