New Delhi: The Immunization Action Group (IAG) met in New Delhi on Tuesday to review the progress of the Universal Immunization Programme (UIP) and discuss measures to ensure every child is protected against vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs).
The meeting was chaired by Aradhana Patnaik, Additional Secretary and Mission Director of the National Health Mission (NHM), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Mission Directors and senior officials from 22 States and Union Territories, along with representatives from Gavi and development partners, participated in the review.
Key discussions focused on eliminating Measles-Rubella, identifying and vaccinating Zero-Dose children, improving overall immunization coverage, reviewing Village Action Plans, and addressing state-specific challenges affecting last-mile vaccine delivery.
Officials emphasized the need for stronger coordination between the Centre and States to enhance immunization services and ensure that every eligible child receives life-saving vaccines under the Universal Immunization Programme.
