The Telangana government is moving ahead with plans to rehabilitate the Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has stated that the government aims to complete the rehabilitation before the 2027 monsoon. The government had earlier outlined a fast-track rehabilitation plan with the objective of completing the works before the 2027 monsoon.
According to the information provided, designs for the rehabilitation of the three barrages have been finalised. The designs are proposed to be placed before the Central Water Commission’s technical oversight committee on October 5.
The government has also taken into account recommendations and technical observations from the National Dam Safety Authority and experts, according to the supplied information.
After the required technical clearances are obtained, the government plans to invite tenders for the rehabilitation works. The works are expected to begin in November, with the target of completing the restoration before the 2027 monsoon.
