ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ ప్రభుత్వం రైతులకు కీలక హెచ్చరిక జారీ చేసింది. ప్రజల ఆరోగ్యానికి తీవ్రమైన ముప్పుగా మారుతోన్న పారాక్వాట్ డీక్లోరైడ్ గడ్డి మందుపై రాష్ట్రవ్యాప్తంగా నిషేధం విధిస్తూ వ్యవసాయశాఖ ఉత్తర్వులు జారీ చేసింది. ఈ మేరకు తయారీదారులు, పంపిణీదారులు, డీలర్లు, రిటెయిలర్లు, రైతులు తప్పనిసరిగా ఈ నిషేధాన్ని అమలు చేయాలని ఆదేశించింది.

పారాక్వాట్ డీక్లోరైడ్ అత్యంత విషపూరిత గడ్డి సంహారిణిగా గుర్తింపు పొందింది. గ్రామీణ ప్రాంతాల్లో ఈ మందు వినియోగం కారణంగా ఆత్మహత్యలు మరియు అనుకోని మరణాలు అధికంగా నమోదవుతున్నట్లు ప్రభుత్వం పేర్కొంది. తక్కువ పరిమాణంలో శరీరంలోకి వెళ్లినా ప్రాణాంతకంగా మారుతుందని వైద్య నిపుణులు హెచ్చరిస్తున్నారు. దీనికి ఇప్పటివరకు సమర్థవంతమైన విరుగుడు లేదని నివేదికలు వెల్లడించాయి.

విజయవాడ సిద్ధార్థ వైద్య కళాశాల ఫోరెన్సిక్ మెడిసిన్ విభాగం ప్రొఫెసర్ సమర్పించిన నివేదికలను వైద్య ఆరోగ్యశాఖ ప్రభుత్వానికి అందించింది. ఇటీవల ఈ మందు సేవించి మరణించిన ఘటనలను డీజీపీ కూడా ప్రభుత్వ దృష్టికి తీసుకెళ్లినట్లు సమాచారం. ఈ నేపథ్యంలో నిషేధ చర్యలు చేపట్టాలని సూచించడంతో వ్యవసాయశాఖ ఉత్తర్వులు జారీ చేసింది.

పారాక్వాట్ ప్రభావంతో కిడ్నీ సమస్యలు, ఊపిరితిత్తుల దెబ్బతినడం, నాడీ వ్యవస్థపై ప్రతికూల ప్రభావాలు ఏర్పడుతున్నాయని పరిశోధనలు చెబుతున్నాయి. ముఖ్యంగా పార్కిన్సన్స్ వ్యాధికి ఇది కారణమయ్యే అవకాశం ఉందని వైద్య నిపుణులు పేర్కొంటున్నారు.

ఇప్పటికే తెలంగాణ ప్రభుత్వం కూడా ఈ ఏడాది మార్చిలో పారాక్వాట్‌పై తాత్కాలిక నిషేధం విధించింది. దేశవ్యాప్తంగా పూర్తి నిషేధం అమలు చేయాలని కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వాన్ని కోరింది. ఒడిశా రాష్ట్రం కూడా ఇలాంటి చర్యలు ప్రారంభించింది.

The Andhra Pradesh government has issued a major alert to farmers by banning Paraquat Dichloride weed killer across the state. The Agriculture Department released orders stating that manufacturers, distributors, dealers, retailers, and users must strictly comply with the prohibition.

Paraquat Dichloride has been identified as a highly toxic herbicide posing serious risks to public health. Officials noted that several deaths, including suicide cases in rural and agricultural regions, were linked to the consumption and handling of the chemical. Medical experts warned that even a small quantity entering the human body can become fatal, and there is currently no effective antidote available.

The state government acted based on reports submitted by the Health Department along with findings from forensic medicine experts at Siddhartha Medical College in Vijayawada. Senior police officials also reportedly highlighted recent suicide incidents involving the chemical and recommended immediate preventive measures.

Research studies have shown that prolonged exposure to Paraquat may cause severe kidney damage, respiratory complications, and neurological disorders. Experts further indicated that the chemical could contribute to Parkinson’s disease by affecting the nervous system.

Telangana had already imposed a temporary restriction on Paraquat earlier this year and requested the Centre to consider a nationwide ban. Odisha has also initiated similar regulatory action against the weed killer.
