Telangana is reportedly introducing an online video-based road safety course and assessment as part of efforts to improve traffic awareness among driving licence applicants. According to the supplied report, the initiative aims to promote responsible driving, improve knowledge of traffic rules and help prevent road accidents. The precise implementation status and the categories of applicants covered require official confirmation.

The report states that the course lasts approximately two and a half hours and is divided into six modules. More than 120 short videos reportedly cover traffic signals, safe following distances, precautions at dangerous turns and ways to respond to unexpected road situations.

Applicants are reportedly required to complete the videos and pass an assessment before proceeding to the next stage of the licence process. The minimum qualifying score and the exact administrative requirements should be confirmed through an official Transport Department notification.

The supplied report also describes a digital monitoring system using facial recognition. Applicants reportedly access the course through a link, verify their details using an OTP and complete the training on a smartphone, laptop or tablet. The course can reportedly be paused and resumed later.

Training is said to be available in Telugu, English, Hindi and Urdu, making it accessible to applicants from different language backgrounds.

According to the supplied information, the system is being tested through a pilot project in Yadadri and Suryapet districts. A wider rollout may be considered after the pilot is evaluated. However, the statewide implementation date and the precise effect of the assessment on licence applications have not been independently verified.

Applicants should check the latest instructions issued by the Telangana Transport Department before relying on the reported procedure.
