Telangana DGP Reviews Cyber Security Bureau, Pushes AI-Driven Policing Against Rising Cybercrime

తెలంగాణలో పెరుగుతున్న సైబర్ నేరాలను అరికట్టేందుకు అత్యాధునిక సాంకేతికత వినియోగంపై రాష్ట్ర పోలీసు శాఖ మరింత దృష్టి సారిస్తున్నట్లు డీజీపీ తెలిపారు. తెలంగాణ సైబర్ సెక్యూరిటీ బ్యూరోలోని సైబర్ ల్యాబ్, సెక్యూరిటీ ఆపరేషన్స్ సెంటర్, సెంట్రల్ మానిటరింగ్ యూనిట్, సోషల్ మీడియా యూనిట్, చైల్డ్ ప్రొటెక్షన్ యూనిట్, డిజిటల్ ఫోరెన్సిక్ యూనిట్లను సమగ్రంగా పరిశీలించారు. డైరెక్టర్ శిఖా గోయల్ ఐపీఎస్తో పాటు సీనియర్ అధికారులు సైబర్ నేరాల తాజా ధోరణులు, దర్యాప్తు పద్ధతులు, సాంకేతిక ప్రణాళికపై వివరించారు.
ఈ సందర్భంగా ఏఐ ఆధారిత సైబర్ కాల్ సెంటర్ పనితీరును డీజీపీ ప్రత్యక్షంగా పరిశీలించారు. ఆర్థిక మోసానికి గురైన బాధితుడి ఫిర్యాదును వ్యవస్థ వెంటనే స్వీకరించి, అవసరమైన వివరాలను నమోదు చేసి సంబంధిత పోలీస్ స్టేషన్కు తక్షణమే పంపించిన విధానాన్ని అభినందించారు. ప్రజాకేంద్రిత పోలీసింగ్లో ఏఐ కీలక పాత్ర పోషిస్తోందని పేర్కొంటూ, ఇటువంటి సేవలను మరింత విస్తరించాలని అధికారులను ఆదేశించారు.
2025లో తెలంగాణలో సైబర్ మోసాల వల్ల జరిగిన నష్టాలు 2024తో పోలిస్తే 20 శాతం తగ్గాయని డీజీపీ వెల్లడించారు. అదే సమయంలో రాష్ట్రంలో 21,639 సైబర్ నేరాల ఎఫ్ఐఆర్లు నమోదవగా, దేశవ్యాప్తంగా నమోదైన మొత్తం సైబర్ ఎఫ్ఐఆర్లలో 44 శాతం తెలంగాణ నుంచే నమోదయ్యాయని తెలిపారు. రూ.75 లక్షలకు పైబడిన మోసాల కేసుల్లో ఎఫ్ఐఆర్ నమోదు శాతం 78కు చేరిందన్నారు. నిందితుల ఖాతాల్లో నిలిపివేసిన మొత్తం రూ.255 కోట్ల నుంచి రూ.279 కోట్లకు పెరిగిందని వెల్లడించారు.
అయితే బాధితులకు డబ్బు తిరిగి చెల్లించే వ్యవస్థ, సహయోగ్ పోర్టల్ సమన్వయంలో రాష్ట్ర ర్యాంకులు ఆశించిన స్థాయిలో లేవని డీజీపీ స్పష్టం చేశారు. దేశంలో ఎఫ్ఐఆర్ నమోదు విషయంలో అగ్రస్థానంలో ఉన్న రాష్ట్రం, బాధితులకు న్యాయం చేయడంలోనూ అదే స్థాయిలో ఉండాలని అధికారులకు సూచించారు. సైబర్ నేరాల దర్యాప్తులో ప్రతి అధికారి ఏఐ, ఆధునిక విశ్లేషణ పద్ధతులను అవలంబించాలని, సైబర్ నేరాలను ప్రధాన పోలీసింగ్ అంశంగా పరిగణించాలని ఆదేశించారు.

Telangana Director General of Police conducted a comprehensive review of the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau, inspecting the Cyber Lab, Security Operations Centre, Central Monitoring Unit, Social Media Unit, Child Protection Unit and Digital Forensic Unit. Director Shikha Goel, IPS, and senior officers briefed him on emerging cybercrime trends, investigation techniques and the state’s technological roadmap.
During the visit, the DGP observed the AI-powered Cyber Call Centre handling a live financial fraud complaint. The system collected key information with an empathetic response and instantly alerted the concerned police station. Calling it the future of citizen-first policing, the DGP directed officials to expand AI-driven services across the state.
The DGP said Telangana recorded a 20% reduction in cyber fraud losses in 2025 compared to 2024, while registering 21,639 cybercrime FIRs, accounting for 44% of all cybercrime FIRs in India. The FIR conversion rate in fraud cases above ₹75 lakh reached 78%, while the amount frozen in fraudsters’ accounts increased from ₹255 crore to ₹279 crore.
He, however, expressed concern over Telangana’s rankings in the Money Refund Mechanism and Sahayog Portal, stating that a state leading the nation in cybercrime enforcement must also excel in victim refunds and inter-agency coordination. Stressing that cybercrime has become one of the biggest policing challenges, the DGP directed officers to strengthen technological capabilities, adopt AI and advanced analytics, and ensure rapid response against online financial frauds.
