BRS working president and former minister K. T. Rama Rao made serious allegations against Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over the handling of the Bhageerath POCSO case, intensifying political tensions in the state.
Addressing the media, KTR questioned why the accused, identified as Bandi Bhageerath, was allegedly not arrested for nine days despite being named in a POCSO case. He alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar attempted to shield the accused.
KTR accused the government of showing “special treatment” to the accused because of political connections. He also alleged that efforts were made to secure bail and that there was deliberate delay in police action. The BRS leader further claimed that a counter-case had been filed against the minor girl involved in the case.
The remarks have triggered a fresh political confrontation between the ruling Congress government and the opposition BRS in Telangana. The issue has gained public attention due to the sensitive nature of the allegations and concerns over the handling of POCSO-related cases.
