The Telangana High Court has expressed serious concern over the growing issue of footpath encroachments across Hyderabad and questioned civic authorities over the lack of effective enforcement.
During the hearing, the court sought explanations from officials regarding the implementation of its earlier directions on clearing pedestrian pathways. The High Court observed that footpaths are meant for public use and should remain accessible to pedestrians at all times.
The court noted that widespread encroachments by commercial establishments, temporary structures, and unauthorized occupations have forced pedestrians onto busy roads, increasing the risk of accidents.
