Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Orders Comprehensive Anti-Food and Drug Adulteration Law

హైదరాబాద్: తెలంగాణలో ఆహార పదార్థాలు, ఔషధాల్లో పెరుగుతున్న కల్తీలను అరికట్టేందుకు సమగ్రంగా కఠిన చట్టాన్ని రూపొందించాలని ముఖ్యమంత్రి రేవంత్ రెడ్డి అధికారులను ఆదేశించారు. తెలంగాణ ఆహార కల్తీ, ఔషధ నియంత్రణ చట్టం (TGFADCA) రూపకల్పనపై ఎంసీహెచ్ఆర్డీ బోధి పెవిలియన్లో నిర్వహించిన సమీక్ష సమావేశంలో ఆయన కీలక సూచనలు చేశారు.
ఆకుకూరలు, కూరగాయలు, పాలు ఎక్కువ రోజులు నిల్వ ఉండేందుకు, పండ్లు త్వరగా మగ్గేందుకు విచ్చలవిడిగా రసాయనాలను వినియోగించడం ప్రజల ఆరోగ్యంపై తీవ్ర ప్రభావం చూపుతోందని ముఖ్యమంత్రి పేర్కొన్నారు. ఎరువులు, పురుగు మందుల అధిక వినియోగంతో పంటల్లో రసాయన అవశేషాలు పెరుగుతున్నాయని, దీనివల్ల కొన్ని దేశాలు దిగుమతులను తిరస్కరిస్తున్న పరిస్థితిని ఆయన ప్రస్తావించారు.
మార్కెట్లో సేంద్రియ ఉత్పత్తుల పేరుతో విక్రయిస్తున్న వస్తువులు నిజంగా సేంద్రియమైనవేనా అనే అంశాన్ని నిర్ధారించే సమర్థవంతమైన వ్యవస్థ అవసరమని సీఎం అభిప్రాయపడ్డారు. ఇందుకోసం కల్తీల నిరోధంలో విజయవంతమైన దేశాల చట్టాలను అధ్యయనం చేసి సమగ్ర నివేదిక సిద్ధం చేయాలని అధికారులకు సూచించారు.
ఆ నివేదిక ఆధారంగా బిల్లును రూపొందించి శాసనసభలో విస్తృత చర్చ నిర్వహించడంతో పాటు ప్రజల అభిప్రాయాలను కూడా స్వీకరించాలని ఆదేశించారు. కల్తీలపై సమాచార సేకరణ కోసం విజిల్ బ్లోయర్ వ్యవస్థ, టోల్ ఫ్రీ నంబర్ ఏర్పాటు చేయాలని సూచించారు.
కల్తీల నిరోధ చర్యలను మొదట క్యూర్ (CURE) ప్రాంతంలో పైలట్ ప్రాజెక్టుగా అమలు చేసి, అక్కడి అనుభవాల ఆధారంగా రాష్ట్రవ్యాప్తంగా విస్తరించాలని ముఖ్యమంత్రి అధికారులను ఆదేశించారు.
ఈ సమావేశంలో ప్రధాన కార్యదర్శి సంజయ్ జాజు, డీజీపీ సీవీ ఆనంద్, ముఖ్యమంత్రి సలహాదారులు, ప్రత్యేక ప్రధాన కార్యదర్శులు, వివిధ శాఖల ఉన్నతాధికారులు పాల్గొన్నారు.

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed officials to draft a comprehensive and stringent law to curb food and drug adulteration across the state. The directions were issued during a high-level review meeting on the proposed Telangana Food Adulteration and Drug Control Act (TGFADCA) held at the MCRHRD Bodhi Pavilion.
The Chief Minister expressed concern over the excessive use of chemicals to preserve leafy vegetables, vegetables and milk for longer periods and to artificially ripen fruits, stating that such practices pose serious health risks to the public. He also noted that excessive use of fertilizers and pesticides has resulted in chemical residues in agricultural produce, leading some countries to reject imports.
Revanth Reddy pointed out that many products are being sold in the market under the label of “organic,” but there is no robust mechanism to verify their authenticity. He instructed officials to study anti-adulteration laws implemented in countries with effective regulatory systems and prepare a comprehensive report.
Based on the report, the government will draft legislation for discussion in the Telangana Legislative Assembly while also inviting public feedback before finalising the law. The Chief Minister further directed officials to establish a whistleblower mechanism and a toll-free helpline to collect information on adulteration.
He also instructed officials to implement anti-adulteration measures on a pilot basis in the CURE region before expanding them across Telangana based on the lessons learned.
Senior officials, including Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, DGP C.V. Anand, senior advisors and top officials from various departments, attended the review meeting.
