ఈపీఎఫ్ఓ పెన్షనర్ల కనీస పెన్షన్ పెంపుపై మరోసారి చర్చ మొదలైంది. ప్రస్తుతం నెలకు కనీసం రూ.1,000 పెన్షన్ అందుతుండగా, దాన్ని రూ.7,500కు పెంచాలని EPS-95 పెన్షనర్లు చాలాకాలంగా డిమాండ్ చేస్తున్నారు. అయితే రూ.3,000కు పెంచే అవకాశం ఉందన్న ప్రచారానికి ఇప్పటివరకు కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం అధికారికంగా ఆమోదం తెలిపినట్లు ఆధారం లేదు.
Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS), 1995 కింద కనీస పెన్షన్ రూ.1,000గా 2014 సెప్టెంబర్ 1 నుంచి అమల్లో ఉంది. పెన్షన్ లెక్కింపు ప్రకారం రూ.1,000 కంటే తక్కువ మొత్తం వచ్చిన సందర్భాల్లో కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం బడ్జెట్ మద్దతు ద్వారా ఆ మొత్తాన్ని రూ.1,000కు చేరుస్తోంది.
రూ.7,500 పెన్షన్ కోసం డిమాండ్
ద్రవ్యోల్బణం, పెరిగిన జీవన వ్యయాలను దృష్టిలో పెట్టుకుని కనీస EPS పెన్షన్ను రూ.7,500కు పెంచాలని EPS-95 National Agitation Committee సహా పెన్షనర్ల సంఘాలు డిమాండ్ చేస్తున్నాయి. ఆగస్టు 5న ఢిల్లీలో కూడా ఈ డిమాండ్తో ఆందోళన నిర్వహించారు.
పార్లమెంట్లో కేంద్రం స్పందన
కనీస EPS పెన్షన్ను పెంచే అంశంపై గతంలో పార్లమెంట్లో కేంద్రం స్పష్టత ఇచ్చింది. కార్మిక, ఉపాధి శాఖ సహాయ మంత్రి శోభా కరంద్లాజే వెల్లడించిన అధికారిక సమాధానాల ప్రకారం, ప్రస్తుతం కనీస పెన్షన్ రూ.1,000గా ఉంది. 2025 డిసెంబర్ రాజ్యసభ సమాధానంలో కనీస EPS పెన్షన్ను సవరించే ప్రతిపాదనపై కూడా ప్రశ్నలు లేవనెత్తబడ్డాయి.
రూ.3,000 పెంపుపై అధికారిక ప్రకటన ఉందా?
రూ.7,500కు కాకపోయినా కనీస పెన్షన్ను రూ.3,000కు పెంచే అవకాశం ఉందంటూ ప్రస్తుతం ప్రచారం జరుగుతోంది. అయితే అందుబాటులో ఉన్న కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వ అధికారిక పత్రాల్లో రూ.3,000కు పెంపుపై తుది నిర్ణయం ప్రకటించలేదు. కాబట్టి పెన్షనర్లు అధికారిక ప్రకటన వచ్చే వరకు ఈ సమాచారాన్ని ప్రతిపాదన లేదా అంచనాగా మాత్రమే పరిగణించడం మంచిది.
EPS-95 పెన్షనర్లు మాత్రం కనీస పెన్షన్ పెంపుతో పాటు పెన్షనర్లు, వారి జీవిత భాగస్వాములకు మెరుగైన వైద్య సదుపాయాలు కల్పించాలని కూడా కోరుతున్నారు.
The demand for an increase in the minimum pension under the Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS), 1995 has once again gained attention. The minimum EPS pension currently stands at Rs.1,000 per month, while pensioners’ organisations have been demanding an increase to Rs.7,500.
The Rs.1,000 minimum pension has been in effect since September 1, 2014. Where the pension calculated under the scheme falls below Rs.1,000, the Central Government provides budgetary support to ensure the minimum amount reaches Rs.1,000.
Demand for Rs.7,500 Minimum Pension
EPS-95 pensioners’ organisations have been demanding that the minimum pension be raised to Rs.7,500, citing inflation and the rising cost of living. The EPS-95 National Agitation Committee also held a protest in New Delhi on August 5 seeking an early decision on the issue.
Government’s Position
The issue of minimum EPS pension has been raised in Parliament. Official government records confirm that the current minimum pension remains Rs.1,000. In a Rajya Sabha reply dated December 18, 2025, Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje responded to questions concerning revision of the minimum EPS pension.
What About the Reported Rs.3,000 Increase?
Reports and online discussions are suggesting that the minimum pension could be raised to around Rs.3,000 instead of Rs.7,500. However, there is currently no official government notification confirming a decision to increase the minimum EPS pension to Rs.3,000. Pensioners should therefore wait for an official announcement before treating the reported figure as final.
