హనుమకొండ: తెలంగాణ చరిత్రకు సంబంధించిన కీలక ఆధారం వెలుగులోకి వచ్చింది. హనుమకొండ జిల్లా భీమదేవరపల్లి మండలం ముల్కనూరులో కల్యాణి చాళుక్యుల కాలానికి చెందిన శతాబ్దాల నాటి శాసనాన్ని చరిత్ర పరిశోధకులు గుర్తించారు. భూదానానికి సంబంధించిన వివరాలు ఇందులో ఉన్నట్లు ప్రాథమిక పరిశీలనలో వెల్లడైంది.
కొత్త తెలంగాణ చరిత్ర బృందం పరిశోధక సభ్యుడు జి. కిశోర్ క్షేత్రస్థాయి పరిశోధనలో ఈ శాసనాన్ని గుర్తించారు. ముల్కనూరులోని మహిళా సహకార డెయిరీ వెనుక ఉన్న స్థానికంగా ‘కాటమయ్య రాయి’గా పిలిచే శిలపై ఈ శాసనం చెక్కి ఉంది.
అదే శిలపై గణేశుడు, వేదిక భద్ర పీఠంపై శివలింగం, నంది, మహిషాసురమర్దిని శిల్పాలు ఉన్నట్లు పరిశోధకులు గుర్తించారు. సూర్యుడు, చంద్రుడి ప్రతీకలు కూడా కనిపిస్తున్నాయి. శిలకు ఎదురుగా నాగశిలలు ఉన్నాయి. ఈ శిల్పాలు రాష్ట్రకూటుల అనంతర కాలానికి చెందిన శైలిని ప్రతిబింబిస్తున్నట్లు పరిశోధకులు చెబుతున్నారు.
శాసనం తెలుగు-కన్నడ లిపిలో, కన్నడ భాషలో ఉన్నట్లు కొత్త తెలంగాణ చరిత్ర బృందం అధ్యక్షుడు శ్రీరామోజు హరగోపాల్ తెలిపారు. అయితే శాసనంలోని పలు భాగాలు కాలక్రమంలో దెబ్బతినడంతో పూర్తిస్థాయి సమాచారాన్ని చదవడం సాధ్యం కాలేదని పేర్కొన్నారు.
ఇప్పటివరకు చదవగలిగిన భాగాల ప్రకారం కల్యాణి చాళుక్యుల పాలనలో ‘మహాసామంత’ హోదాలో ఉన్న వ్యక్తి, బిజ్జనగా భావిస్తున్న దాత, ముల్కలూరులో భూమిని దానం చేసినట్లు తెలుస్తోంది. ‘సమధిగత పంచమహాశబ్ద’ అనే బిరుదు కూడా శాసనంలో కనిపిస్తున్నట్లు పరిశోధకులు వివరించారు.
చైత్రమాస శుక్లపక్షంలోని 12వ రోజున నీటితో కూడిన భూమి దానం చేసినట్లు చదవగలిగిన భాగంలో ఉన్నట్లు సమాచారం. అయితే శాసనం దెబ్బతినడం వల్ల ఖచ్చితమైన సంవత్సరం ప్రస్తుతం స్పష్టంగా తెలియడం లేదు.
శాసనం ప్రారంభంలో సంప్రదాయ ‘స్వస్తి’ పదంతో పాటు మహాసామంతుడు, ఆయన వంశ ప్రస్తావన కనిపిస్తున్నట్లు పరిశోధకులు తెలిపారు. రాజ్య సౌభాగ్యం కొనసాగాలని ఆకాంక్షించే అంశాలతో పాటు దానం చేసిన భూమిని భవిష్యత్ పాలకులు రక్షించాలని కోరే సంప్రదాయ సూచనతో శాసనం ముగుస్తున్నట్లు వెల్లడించారు.
శాసనంలోని అక్షరాలు దెబ్బతిన్నప్పటికీ మిగిలిన భాగాలపై మరింత అధ్యయనం చేస్తే దాత పేరు, ఖచ్చితమైన కాలం, భూదానానికి సంబంధించిన మరిన్ని వివరాలు వెలుగులోకి వచ్చే అవకాశం ఉందని పరిశోధకులు తెలిపారు. ముల్కనూరు ప్రాంత చరిత్ర, కల్యాణి చాళుక్యుల కాలం నాటి సామాజిక, రాజకీయ పరిస్థితులపై ఈ శాసనం మరింత సమాచారం అందించే అవకాశం ఉంది.

Hanamkonda: A centuries-old inscription linked to the Kalyani Chalukya period has been discovered at Mulkanoor in Bheemadevarapalli mandal of Hanamkonda district, providing a new historical reference to the region. The inscription records details of a land donation and is being examined by researchers.
The inscription was identified during field exploration by G. Kishore, a research member of the Kotha Telangana Charitrabrundam. It is carved on a rock locally known as Katamayya rock, situated behind the Mahila Sahakara Dairy at Mulkanoor.
The same rock contains sculptures of Ganesha, a Shivalinga placed on a Vedibhadra pedestal, Nandi and Mahishasuramardini. Representations of the Sun and Moon are also present. Votive Naga stones have been found opposite the rock. Researchers have described the sculptures as reflecting a post-Rashtrakuta style.
According to Kotha Telangana Charitrabrundam president Sriramoju Haragopal, the inscription is written in Telugu-Kannada script and the Kannada language. Several portions of the inscription have been damaged or worn away, making it difficult to decipher the complete text at present.
The readable portion indicates that during the rule of the Kalyani Chalukyas, a Mahasamanta, possibly named Bijjana, who held the title “Samadhigata Pancha Mahashabda,” made a land donation at Mulkaluru.
The decipherable section appears to refer to the donation of land with water on the 12th day of the bright fortnight of Chaitra. However, the exact year cannot currently be established because of damage to the inscription.
The inscription begins with the customary “Swasti” and refers to the Mahasamanta and his lineage before recording the details of the donation. It also contains a reference to the continued prosperity of the kingdom and concludes with a customary appeal to future rulers to protect the charitable grant.
Researchers said further examination of the surviving letters could help establish the donor’s name, the precise date and other details associated with the land grant. The discovery could add to the understanding of Mulkanoor and the wider Hanamkonda region during the Kalyani Chalukya period.
