Supreme Court Ruling on Miyapur Land: Telangana Government Protects 550 Acres Worth ₹50,000 Crore, Says Revanth Reddy

Full English News Article

The Supreme Court’s ruling that all rights over 550 acres of land in Survey Nos. 100 and 101 in Miyapur, Ranga Reddy district, belong to the government has been described as a historic victory by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. He said the land was valued at approximately ₹50,000 crore and thanked the Supreme Court judges on behalf of the people of Telangana.

Speaking to the media in Delhi alongside Members of Parliament, the Chief Minister described the verdict as a major achievement for the state. He said officials had been instructed to take the necessary measures to protect the Miyapur land.

Revanth Reddy stated that government lands protected from encroachment would be preserved and used for public purposes. He added that lands belonging to the Forest Department would be handed over to that department, while lands under the Revenue Department would be entrusted to the concerned authorities.

Government Has Protected Land Worth ₹1.5 Lakh Crore

The Chief Minister said that since his government came to power, it had protected government lands worth approximately ₹1.5 lakh crore through legal battles in various courts. He stated that the government had secured valuable lands in seven major locations across Telangana.

He said the government had been consulting lawyers continuously over the past three years and presenting strong arguments in court to prevent the loss of public land. He also alleged that attempts had been made to manipulate revenue records and encroach on government properties under the cover of the Dharani land records system.

Government Land Protected in Seven Locations

Revanth Reddy said the government had fought legal battles to protect valuable land in several areas around Hyderabad. According to his statement, 400 acres in Kancha Gachibowli and 450 acres in Mamidipally had been protected through legal proceedings.

He also referred to 140 acres in Survey No. 201 at Sahebnagar Kalan in Hayathnagar mandal, stating that a favourable judgment had been delivered in support of the state and the Forest Department.

In Kondapur, within Serilingampally mandal, the government fought a legal battle over 36 acres in Survey No. 59. The Chief Minister said the High Court delivered a favourable judgment on September 3, 2025, following which the land was taken into government possession.

The government also protected 143 acres of land in Survey No. 393 at Manchirevula in Gandipet mandal, according to the Chief Minister. He said 50 acres of this land had been allocated for the Young India Police School.

Revanth Reddy further stated that the government had protected 106 acres of forest land valued at ₹400 crore in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district through a legal battle in the Supreme Court. He also said that 600 acres of forest land in Bhadradri Kothagudem district had been protected from attempted encroachment through court proceedings.

Revenue From Land Sales May Fund Development Projects

The Chief Minister said a Cabinet subcommittee constituted for resource mobilisation would examine the proposed sale of certain lands and the use of the proceeds for development projects.

According to his statement, the government intends to use the funds for public welfare, particularly the development of Dalits, tribals and Adivasi communities, education for economically disadvantaged people, the Indiramma housing scheme, irrigation projects and other development initiatives.

He emphasised that government lands recovered through legal proceedings should not be left vulnerable to future encroachment and should instead be used for the benefit of the public.
