పెద్దపల్లి జిల్లా గోదావరిఖనిలో ఇంజినీరింగ్ విద్యార్థిని తాండ్ర అక్షితరాణి మృతి కేసులో కీలక మలుపు చోటుచేసుకుంది. తొలుత ఆత్మహత్యగా భావించిన ఈ ఘటన హత్య కేసుగా మారింది. ఈ కేసులో ఔట్సోర్సింగ్ పాలిటెక్నిక్ లెక్చరర్ జెట్టి నవీన్ కుమార్, బొమ్మకంటి రవికుమార్ను పోలీసులు అరెస్ట్ చేసినట్లు తెలిపారు.
పోలీసుల వివరాల ప్రకారం, సుల్తానాబాద్ మండలం గర్రెపల్లికి చెందిన నవీన్ కుమార్ నస్పూర్లోని ఎస్సీసీఎల్ పాలిటెక్నిక్ కళాశాలలో ఔట్సోర్సింగ్ లెక్చరర్గా పనిచేస్తున్నాడు. అక్షితరాణి అదే కళాశాలలో డిప్లొమా చదువుతున్న సమయంలో అతనితో పరిచయం ఏర్పడినట్లు పోలీసులు తెలిపారు.
తర్వాత అక్షితరాణి ఇంజినీరింగ్ చదువుతూ గోదావరిఖని ప్రాంతంలోని గని వద్ద శిక్షణకు వెళ్లిన సమయంలో బొమ్మకంటి రవికుమార్తో పరిచయం ఏర్పడినట్లు దర్యాప్తులో వెల్లడైంది. ఆమె రవికుమార్తో సన్నిహితంగా ఉంటున్న విషయం నవీన్కు తెలిసిన తర్వాత అక్షితపై అతను కోపం పెంచుకున్నట్లు పోలీసులు పేర్కొన్నారు.
సెప్టెంబర్ 12న అక్షితరాణిని తన కారులో తీసుకెళ్లిన నవీన్ ఆమెను పురుగుల మందు తాగేలా బలవంతం చేసి, ఘటనను ఆత్మహత్యగా చిత్రీకరించేందుకు ప్రయత్నించినట్లు పోలీసులు ఆరోపించారు. ఆమెతో సూసైడ్ నోట్ రాయించడంతో పాటు, ఆమె అపస్మారక స్థితికి చేరుకున్న తర్వాత తల్లిదండ్రులకు సమాచారం ఇచ్చినట్లు దర్యాప్తులో వెల్లడైందని తెలిపారు.
అక్షితరాణిని కుటుంబ సభ్యులు గోదావరిఖని ప్రభుత్వ ఆస్పత్రికి తరలించారు. చికిత్స పొందుతూ సెప్టెంబర్ 13న ఆమె మృతి చెందింది. అనంతరం పోలీసులు కేసు దర్యాప్తును ముమ్మరం చేశారు.
ఆత్మహత్యకు ముందు లభించిన నోట్ ఆధారంగా తొలుత రవికుమార్పై కేసు నమోదైనట్లు పోలీసులు తెలిపారు. అయితే సీసీటీవీ ఫుటేజీ, కాల్ డేటా, ఇతర సాంకేతిక ఆధారాలను పరిశీలించడంతో నవీన్ పాత్రపై అనుమానాలు బలపడ్డాయి.
పోలీసుల విచారణలో నవీన్ అక్షితరాణి మృతికి తన పాత్ర ఉన్నట్లు అంగీకరించినట్లు అధికారులు తెలిపారు. కేసులో కళాశాల అధికారుల నిర్లక్ష్యం ఏమైనా ఉందా అనే కోణంలోనూ దర్యాప్తు కొనసాగుతుందని పోలీసులు వెల్లడించారు.

The death of 20-year-old engineering student Thandra Akshitarani in Godavarikhani, Peddapalli district, has taken a major turn after police treated the case as murder instead of suicide. Police arrested outsourced polytechnic lecturer Jetti Naveen Kumar and coal miner Bommakanti Ravi Kumar in connection with the case.
According to police, Naveen Kumar, a resident of Garrepalli in Sultanabad mandal, worked as an outsourced lecturer at an SCCL polytechnic college in Naspur. Akshitarani had studied for a diploma at the college, where she came into contact with Naveen.
Akshitarani later joined an engineering course and came to the Godavarikhani area as part of field training at a mine. During the training, she became acquainted with Ravi Kumar from Bellampalli in Mancherial district. Police said Naveen became angry after learning about her growing association with Ravi Kumar.
On September 12, Naveen allegedly took Akshitarani in his car and forced her to consume pesticide. Police said he subsequently attempted to portray the incident as a suicide and allegedly made her write a note before taking a photograph of it.
Akshitarani was taken to the Godavarikhani government hospital by her family after she became unconscious. She died while undergoing treatment on September 13.
Police initially registered a case against Ravi Kumar based on the note found on Akshitarani’s phone. During the investigation, however, CCTV footage, call data and other technical evidence reportedly led investigators to focus on Naveen’s role.
During questioning, Naveen allegedly confessed to his involvement in Akshitarani’s death, police said. Investigators are also examining whether there was any negligence on the part of college officials in connection with the case.
