Six-Month Bridge Course Launched for B.Ed-Qualified Primary Teachers

బీఈడీ అర్హతతో ఇప్పటికే ప్రాథమిక పాఠశాలల్లో పనిచేస్తున్న ఉపాధ్యాయుల కోసం కేంద్ర విద్యాశాఖ ఆరు నెలల **Certificate (Bridge) Course in Primary Teacher Education (PTE)**ను ప్రారంభించింది. కేంద్ర విద్యాశాఖ మంత్రి ప్రహ్లాద్ జోషి ఈ కార్యక్రమాన్ని ప్రారంభించారు. నేషనల్ కౌన్సిల్ ఫర్ టీచర్ ఎడ్యుకేషన్ (NCTE) మార్గదర్శకాలకు అనుగుణంగా రూపొందించిన ఈ కోర్సును National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) ద్వారా అమలు చేయనున్నారు.

ప్రాథమిక స్థాయిలో పనిచేస్తున్న బీఈడీ అర్హత కలిగిన ఇన్-సర్వీస్ ఉపాధ్యాయుల బోధనా సామర్థ్యాలను మరింత బలోపేతం చేయడం ఈ కోర్సు ప్రధాన ఉద్దేశం. చిన్నారుల వయస్సు, అభివృద్ధి దశలు, ప్రాథమిక విద్యా బోధనా విధానాలు, తరగతి గది వైవిధ్యం, మూల్యాంకన పద్ధతులపై ప్రత్యేక శిక్షణ అందించనున్నారు.

NIOS వివరాల ప్రకారం, కోర్సులో ఆరు థియరీ కోర్సులు, స్కూల్ ఎక్స్‌పీరియన్స్ భాగం ఉంటాయి. చైల్డ్ డెవలప్‌మెంట్ అండ్ ఎడ్యుకేషనల్ సైకాలజీ, కరిక్యులమ్–పెడగాజీ–అసెస్‌మెంట్, భాషా బోధన, గణిత బోధన, ‘ది వరల్డ్ అరౌండ్ అస్’ వంటి అంశాలను ఇందులో చేర్చారు.

కోర్సులో కనీసం 20 రోజుల స్కూల్ ఎక్స్‌పీరియన్స్, కనీసం 10 రోజుల ఆన్‌లైన్ కాంటాక్ట్ క్లాసులు ఉంటాయి. పాఠశాల అనుభవ కార్యక్రమంలో ఉపాధ్యాయులు ప్రాక్టీస్ టీచింగ్, పోర్ట్‌ఫోలియో, విద్యార్థులతో వివిధ కార్యకలాపాలు, రిఫ్లెక్టివ్ జర్నల్ వంటి అంశాల్లో పాల్గొనాల్సి ఉంటుంది.

NIOS మార్గదర్శకాల ప్రకారం, ఈ కోర్సు ప్రధానంగా 2018 జూన్ 28 నుంచి 2023 ఆగస్టు 11 మధ్య ప్రాథమిక స్థాయిలో నియమితులైన, బీఈడీ అర్హత కలిగిన ఇన్-సర్వీస్ ఉపాధ్యాయులను లక్ష్యంగా చేసుకుంది. ఈ అర్హత పరిధి NCTE నోటిఫికేషన్ మరియు సుప్రీంకోర్టు ఆదేశాలకు సంబంధించిన నిబంధనల ఆధారంగా నిర్ణయించబడింది.

ఈ బ్రిడ్జ్ కోర్సు సుప్రీంకోర్టు 2024 ఏప్రిల్ 8న ఇచ్చిన ఆదేశాల నేపథ్యంలో రూపొందించబడింది. ప్రాథమిక స్థాయిలో బీఈడీ అర్హతతో పనిచేస్తున్న సంబంధిత ఉపాధ్యాయుల కోసం బ్రిడ్జ్ కోర్సును రూపొందించాలని, దాన్ని NCTE కేంద్ర విద్యాశాఖ పర్యవేక్షణలో రూపొందించాలని కోర్టు ఆదేశించినట్లు NIOS పేర్కొంది.

కోర్సు లక్ష్యం ప్రాథమిక స్థాయిలో బోధించే ఉపాధ్యాయులకు బాలల అభివృద్ధి, వయస్సుకు అనుగుణమైన బోధనా విధానాలు, సమగ్ర విద్య, తరగతి గది వైవిధ్యం, సాంకేతికత వినియోగం, సమగ్ర మూల్యాంకనం వంటి అంశాల్లో అవసరమైన నైపుణ్యాలను అందించడం.

Six-Month Bridge Course Launched for B.Ed-Qualified Primary Teachers

The Ministry of Education has launched a six-month Certificate (Bridge) Course in Primary Teacher Education (PTE) for eligible in-service primary school teachers holding B.Ed. qualifications. Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi launched the programme, which has been designed under the framework of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and will be implemented through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).

The programme is aimed at strengthening the pedagogical competencies of B.Ed-qualified teachers already working at the primary level. It focuses on child development, primary-stage pedagogy, classroom diversity, assessment practices and developmentally appropriate teaching methods.

According to NIOS, the programme consists of six theory courses and a school-experience component. The curriculum covers child development and educational psychology, curriculum, pedagogy and assessment, language pedagogy, mathematics pedagogy and “The World Around Us”.

The six-month programme includes at least 20 days of school experience and at least 10 days of online contact classes. The school-based component includes practice teaching, portfolios, activities with children and reflective journals.

The NIOS programme guide identifies its principal target group as in-service primary teachers appointed between June 28, 2018 and August 11, 2023 who hold B.Ed. qualifications and whose appointments fall under the relevant NCTE framework.

The bridge course follows the Supreme Court’s directions issued on April 8, 2024 in the matter concerning B.Ed-qualified teachers appointed at the primary level. NIOS states that the court directed the development of a bridge course and asked NCTE to design it under the overall supervision of the Ministry of Education.

The course is intended to equip teachers with competencies in child development, age-appropriate pedagogy, inclusive education, classroom diversity, technology-supported teaching and holistic assessment, thereby strengthening teaching practices at the foundational and primary stages
