భారతదేశంలో బహుభాషా విద్యను మరింత బలోపేతం చేయడానికి పాఠశాల విద్య & అక్షరాస్యత విభాగం (Department of School Education & Literacy) కీలక చర్యలు చేపట్టింది. భారతీయ భాషల్లో నాణ్యమైన విద్యా వనరులను అందుబాటులోకి తీసుకురావడం ద్వారా జాతీయ విద్యా విధానం-2020 (NEP 2020) లక్ష్యాల అమలును వేగవంతం చేస్తోంది.
ఎన్సీఈఆర్టీ (NCERT) రూపొందించిన 1, 2, 3 మరియు 6వ తరగతి కొత్త పాఠ్యపుస్తకాలు ప్రస్తుతం 22 షెడ్యూల్డ్ భారతీయ భాషల్లో అందుబాటులో ఉన్నాయి. అలాగే ఉన్నత తరగతుల పాఠ్యపుస్తకాల అనువాద ప్రక్రియ కూడా కొనసాగుతోంది.
భాషా అభ్యాసాన్ని మరింత ప్రోత్సహించేందుకు 6వ మరియు 9వ తరగతుల మూడో భాష పాఠ్యపుస్తకాలు 18 భారతీయ భాషల్లో అందుబాటులోకి తీసుకువచ్చారు. విద్యార్థులు తమ మాతృభాషతో పాటు ఇతర భారతీయ భాషలను నేర్చుకునే అవకాశాలను విస్తరించడం ఈ కార్యక్రమం ప్రధాన ఉద్దేశ్యంగా అధికారులు తెలిపారు.
జాతీయ విద్యా విధానం-2020లో భాగంగా బహుభాషా విద్యకు ప్రాధాన్యం ఇస్తూ, దేశవ్యాప్తంగా విద్యార్థులకు సమానమైన నాణ్యమైన విద్యను అందించేందుకు కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం చర్యలు కొనసాగిస్తోంది.

The Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL) has intensified efforts to strengthen multilingual education by expanding access to quality learning resources in Indian languages, in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
According to the department, new NCERT textbooks for Grades 1, 2, 3, and 6 are now available in 22 scheduled Indian languages, while translation work for higher grades is progressing steadily.
To further promote multilingual learning, third-language textbooks for Grades 6 and 9 have also been made available in 18 Indian languages. The initiative aims to encourage students to learn multiple Indian languages while improving access to inclusive and equitable education.
The multilingual textbook initiative is part of the Centre’s broader effort to implement NEP 2020 and promote Bharatiya Bhasha, ensuring that quality educational resources are accessible to students across diverse linguistic backgrounds.
