తెలంగాణ రైతులకు శుభవార్తగా, ప్రొఫెసర్ జయశంకర్ తెలంగాణ వ్యవసాయ విశ్వవిద్యాలయం (పీజేటీఎస్ఏయూ) తొలి స్వదేశీ బీటీ పత్తి విత్తన రకాన్ని అభివృద్ధి చేసింది. ఈ కొత్త విత్తనం పత్తి దిగుబడులను పెంచడంతో పాటు ప్రైవేట్ హైబ్రిడ్ విత్తనాలపై రైతుల ఆధారాన్ని తగ్గించే లక్ష్యంతో రూపొందించినట్లు విశ్వవిద్యాలయ అధికారులు తెలిపారు.
విశ్వవిద్యాలయ శాస్త్రవేత్తలు దీర్ఘకాల పరిశోధన అనంతరం ఈ బీటీ పత్తి రకాన్ని అభివృద్ధి చేశారు. స్థానిక వాతావరణ పరిస్థితులకు అనుకూలంగా ఉండేలా రూపొందించిన ఈ విత్తనం రైతులకు మెరుగైన దిగుబడులు అందించడంలో సహాయపడుతుందని వారు పేర్కొన్నారు.
ఈ కొత్త బీటీ పత్తి రకానికి అవసరమైన నియంత్రణ సంస్థల అనుమతులు లభించిన అనంతరం రైతులకు అందుబాటులోకి తీసుకురానున్నారు. దీంతో నాణ్యమైన విత్తనాలు తక్కువ వ్యయంతో అందుబాటులోకి రావడంతో పాటు పత్తి సాగులో ఉత్పాదకత మరింత పెరిగే అవకాశం ఉందని నిపుణులు అభిప్రాయపడుతున్నారు.
తెలంగాణలో పత్తి ప్రధాన వాణిజ్య పంట కావడంతో, ప్రభుత్వ వ్యవసాయ పరిశోధన సంస్థ అభివృద్ధి చేసిన ఈ స్వదేశీ బీటీ పత్తి విత్తనం భవిష్యత్తులో రైతులకు కీలకంగా మారే అవకాశం ఉందని వ్యవసాయ రంగ నిపుణులు భావిస్తున్నారు.

Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTSAU) has developed its first indigenous Bt cotton seed variety, marking a significant milestone in agricultural research in Telangana.
According to the university, the newly developed Bt cotton variety has been designed to improve crop productivity while reducing farmers’ dependence on expensive private hybrid cotton seeds. Scientists said the variety has been developed after extensive research, keeping local agro-climatic conditions in mind.
