జీనోమ్ వ్యాలీ పోలీస్ స్టేషన్ పరిధిలో జరిగిన రోడ్డు ప్రమాదంలో ఓ విద్యార్థి మృతి చెందగా, మరో ఇద్దరు యువకులు స్వల్ప గాయాలతో బయటపడ్డారు. కారు నడుపుతూ సెల్ఫీ వీడియో చిత్రీకరించడం ఈ ప్రమాదానికి కారణమైనట్లు పోలీసులు ప్రాథమికంగా నిర్ధారించారు.

పోలీసులు తెలిపిన వివరాల ప్రకారం, మూడు చింతలపల్లి మున్సిపాలిటీ అనంతారం గ్రామానికి చెందిన మహమ్మద్ రెహాన్ పాషా (18) తన ఇద్దరు స్నేహితులతో కలిసి ఓ మిత్రుడి కారులో కొల్తూర్‌కు పెట్రోల్ కోసం వెళ్లాడు. అక్కడ పెట్రోల్ అందుబాటులో లేకపోవడంతో తిరిగి గ్రామానికి బయలుదేరారు.

కొల్తూర్ సమీపంలోని పద్మిని డెయిరీ వద్దకు చేరుకున్న సమయంలో కారు నడుపుతున్న యువకుడు సెల్ఫీ వీడియో తీస్తుండగా వాహనం అదుపు తప్పింది. వేగంగా వెళ్తున్న కారు రోడ్డు పక్కన ఉన్న చెట్టును బలంగా ఢీకొట్టింది.

ఈ ప్రమాదంలో ముందు సీటులో కూర్చున్న మహమ్మద్ రెహాన్ పాషాకు తలకు, ముఖానికి తీవ్ర గాయాలు కావడంతో అక్కడికక్కడే మృతి చెందాడు. కారును నడుపుతున్న యువకుడు, వెనుక సీటులో ఉన్న మరో వ్యక్తికి స్వల్ప గాయాలయ్యాయి.

సమాచారం అందుకున్న కుటుంబ సభ్యులు సంఘటన స్థలానికి చేరుకుని గాయపడిన వారిని, రెహాన్ పాషాను అంబులెన్స్‌లో ఆర్వీఎం ఆసుపత్రికి తరలించారు. అయితే అప్పటికే రెహాన్ పాషా మృతి చెందినట్లు వైద్యులు నిర్ధారించారు.

మృతదేహాన్ని పోస్టుమార్టం నిమిత్తం హైదరాబాద్‌లోని గాంధీ ఆసుపత్రికి తరలించారు. మృతుడి తండ్రి మహమ్మద్ చాంద్ పాషా ఫిర్యాదు మేరకు జీనోమ్ వ్యాలీ పోలీసులు కేసు నమోదు చేసి దర్యాప్తు చేపట్టారు.

ప్రమాద సమయంలో సెల్ఫీ వీడియో చిత్రీకరణ అంశంపై పోలీసులు మరింత విచారణ జరుపుతున్నారు.

An 18-year-old student lost his life while two others sustained minor injuries in a road accident under the Genome Valley Police Station limits on Thursday. Police suspect that the driver was recording a selfie video while driving, leading to the fatal crash.

According to police, Mohammed Rehan Pasha (18), a resident of Anantharam village in Moodu Chintalapally Municipality, was travelling with two friends in a car to Kolthur to refuel the vehicle. After learning that petrol was unavailable, they started their return journey.

Near Padmini Dairy on the outskirts of Kolthur, the driver allegedly began recording a selfie video while driving. The vehicle reportedly went out of control and crashed into a roadside tree.

Rehan Pasha, who was seated in the front passenger seat, suffered severe head and facial injuries and died on the spot. The driver and another youth seated in the rear sustained minor injuries.

Family members rushed to the accident site and shifted the victims to RVM Hospital by ambulance. Doctors, however, declared Rehan Pasha dead on arrival.

The body was later shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad for postmortem examination. Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s father, Mohammed Chand Pasha, Genome Valley police registered a case and initiated an investigation.

Police are also examining whether distracted driving due to selfie video recording directly contributed to the accident.
