A remand prisoner involved in a mobile snatching case escaped from Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad, triggering a major police search operation across the city.
According to officials, the accused was lodged in jail in connection with a mobile phone snatching case. He was shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad after reportedly swallowing iron nails, following which doctors admitted him for treatment.
During treatment at the hospital, the prisoner allegedly managed to escape by evading police personnel deployed for security. The incident created panic among officials after the escape came to light.
Police immediately launched a citywide manhunt and formed special teams to trace the accused. CCTV footage from the hospital premises and nearby areas is being examined to identify the route used by the prisoner.
