హైదరాబాద్లోని నిజాం ఇన్స్టిట్యూట్ ఆఫ్ మెడికల్ సైన్సెస్ (నిమ్స్) కిడ్నీ మార్పిడి శస్త్రచికిత్సల్లో అరుదైన మైలురాయిని అందుకుంది. నిమ్స్ యూరాలజీ విభాగం విజయవంతంగా 2 వేల కిడ్నీ మార్పిడి శస్త్రచికిత్సలు పూర్తి చేసి దేశవ్యాప్తంగా గుర్తింపు పొందింది.
ఈ ఘనత సాధించిన నిమ్స్ వైద్య బృందాన్ని ముఖ్యమంత్రి రేవంత్ రెడ్డి అభినందించారు. దక్షిణ భారతదేశంలో కిడ్నీ మార్పిడుల విషయంలో నిమ్స్ మొదటి స్థానంలో నిలిచినట్లు అధికారులు తెలిపారు. దేశవ్యాప్తంగా గుజరాత్లోని ఐకేడీఆర్సీ మొదటి స్థానంలో, లూధియానాలోని క్రిస్టియన్ మెడికల్ కాలేజీ రెండో స్థానంలో ఉండగా, నిమ్స్ మూడో స్థానంలో నిలిచింది.
అత్యంత విశేషమైన విషయం ఏమిటంటే, మొత్తం 2 వేల మార్పిడి శస్త్రచికిత్సల్లో 1,900 మందికి పైగా రోగులకు రాజీవ్ ఆరోగ్యశ్రీ మరియు ముఖ్యమంత్రి సహాయ నిధి ద్వారా ఉచిత వైద్యం అందించారు. అంటే సుమారు 95 శాతం మంది పేద మరియు మధ్యతరగతి కుటుంబాలకు చెందిన రోగులు ఉచితంగా చికిత్స పొందినట్లు వెల్లడైంది.
2023 జనవరి నుంచి గత మూడు సంవత్సరాల నాలుగు నెలల వ్యవధిలోనే 500 కిడ్నీ మార్పిడులు నిర్వహించడం మరో ప్రత్యేక రికార్డుగా నిలిచింది. ఆధునిక వైద్య సదుపాయాలు, నైపుణ్యం కలిగిన వైద్య బృందం కారణంగానే ఈ విజయాన్ని సాధించగలిగామని నిమ్స్ అధికారులు తెలిపారు.
తెలంగాణలో ప్రభుత్వ వైద్య రంగం సామర్థ్యాన్ని ఈ విజయంతో మరోసారి నిమ్స్ నిరూపించిందని వైద్య నిపుణులు అభిప్రాయపడుతున్నారు.

Hyderabad-based Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) has achieved a rare milestone by successfully completing 2,000 kidney transplant surgeries, marking a major achievement in India’s public healthcare sector.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy congratulated the NIMS medical team for achieving the landmark in kidney transplantation services. According to officials, the NIMS Urology Department has emerged as the leading government institution in South India in terms of kidney transplant procedures.
Nationally, Gujarat-based IKDRC holds the top position, followed by Christian Medical College, Ludhiana, while NIMS secured the third position in the country for kidney transplants.
Officials highlighted that nearly 1,900 out of the 2,000 kidney transplant surgeries, accounting for about 95 percent, were performed free of cost under Rajiv Aarogyasri and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund schemes. The achievement is being viewed as a major boost for affordable healthcare access in Telangana.
NIMS also created another record by completing 500 kidney transplants within just three years and four months since January 2023. Doctors attributed the success to advanced medical infrastructure, experienced surgeons and strong institutional support.
Healthcare experts said the milestone reflects the growing strength of Telangana’s government healthcare system and Hyderabad’s emergence as a major medical treatment hub in India.
