భద్రాద్రి కొత్తగూడెం జిల్లా మణుగూరులో డ్రంక్ అండ్ డ్రైవ్ తనిఖీల సమయంలో ఓ వ్యక్తి పోలీసులపై కత్తితో దాడికి యత్నించడం కలకలం రేపింది. మద్యం మత్తులో రెచ్చిపోయిన వ్యక్తిని పోలీసులు అదుపులోకి తీసుకుని రిమాండ్‌కు తరలించారు.

మణుగూరులోని తోగ్గుడెం ప్రాంతంలో సమ్మక్క-సారక్క గుడి వద్ద పోలీసులు వాహన తనిఖీలు నిర్వహిస్తున్నారు. ఈ సమయంలో సోలెం నాగేశ్వరరావు అనే వ్యక్తిని పోలీసులు ఆపి బ్రీత్ అనలైజర్ పరీక్ష చేశారు. పరీక్షలో అతనికి మద్యం శాతం నిబంధనలకు మించి ఉన్నట్లు అధికారులు గుర్తించారు.

దీంతో నిబంధనల ప్రకారం పోలీసులు కేసు నమోదు చేసి హెచ్చరించి ఇంటికి పంపించారు. అయితే తనపై కేసు నమోదు చేయడాన్ని అవమానంగా భావించిన నాగేశ్వరరావు కొద్దిసేపటి తర్వాత పెద్ద వేటకత్తితో తిరిగి ఘటన స్థలానికి చేరుకున్నాడు.

“నన్నే ఆపుతారా.. నాకే టెస్టులు చేస్తారా?” అంటూ పోలీసులపై ఆగ్రహం వ్యక్తం చేస్తూ కత్తితో బెదిరింపులకు దిగాడు. మద్యం మత్తులో ఊగిపోతూ అక్కడున్న పోలీసులను భయభ్రాంతులకు గురిచేశాడు.

పోలీసులు అప్రమత్తంగా వ్యవహరించి అతడి దాడి నుంచి తప్పించుకున్నారు. అనంతరం చుట్టుముట్టి అదుపులోకి తీసుకున్నారు. విధి నిర్వహణలో ఉన్న అధికారులపై దాడికి యత్నించడం, ఆయుధంతో బెదిరించడం వంటి అభియోగాలపై ఎస్సై ఫిర్యాదు మేరకు కేసు నమోదు చేశారు.

A drunk driving check in Manuguru of Bhadradri Kothagudem district turned tense after a man allegedly attempted to attack police personnel with a large knife during vehicle inspections. Police arrested the accused and shifted him to remand.

The incident occurred near the Sammakka-Sarakka temple in the Thoggudem area of Manuguru, where police teams were conducting routine vehicle checks. During the inspection, officers stopped a man identified as Solem Nageswara Rao and conducted a breath analyser test.

According to police, the test showed alcohol levels beyond the permitted limit. Officials registered a case against him under drunk driving rules and reportedly warned him before sending him home.

However, police said the accused returned to the spot shortly afterward carrying a large hunting knife. Allegedly angered over the police case, he shouted at officers and threatened them while under the influence of alcohol.

Witnesses stated that the man created panic in the area by aggressively waving the weapon at police personnel during duty hours. Police officers managed to escape the attack attempt and quickly surrounded the accused before taking him into custody.

Based on a complaint filed by the Sub-Inspector, police registered cases related to threatening officials with a weapon and attempting to attack on-duty police personnel. The accused was later produced before court and remanded.

The incident has sparked discussion locally over rising risks faced by police personnel during routine drunk driving enforcement operations in Telangana.
