A man’s creative homemade air cooler made using a simple blue plastic drum has gone viral on social media, surprising lakhs of viewers. Built reportedly for just Rs 500, the desi cooler is being praised for delivering cooling strong enough to compete with an AC.
In India, innovative low-cost solutions are common, especially among middle-class families who often create useful alternatives using easily available materials. This latest viral video is another example of such practical creativity.
In the video, the man takes a large blue plastic drum and cuts it in the middle to install a motor and fan inside. To improve cooling, he adds grass padding around the structure and arranges small water pipes to keep the airflow cooler.
As soon as the cooler is switched on, strong cold air begins flowing, making the room feel much cooler within minutes. Many users online commented that the setup looked powerful enough to compete with an air conditioner.
The video has already crossed more than 10 lakh views on Instagram. One user commented, “Never thought a blue drum could be used like this,” while another wrote, “This talent should not leave India.”
