ఈ సందర్భంగా మంత్రి మాట్లాడుతూ హైదరాబాద్లో ప్రస్తుతం సుమారు 540 ఎలక్ట్రిక్ బస్సులు నడుస్తుండగా, తెలంగాణ వ్యాప్తంగా దాదాపు వెయ్యి ఎలక్ట్రిక్ బస్సులు సేవలందిస్తున్నాయని తెలిపారు. ప్రజా రవాణాలో ఎలక్ట్రిక్ వాహనాల వినియోగం పెరగడం ద్వారా కాలుష్యం తగ్గడంతో పాటు నగర ప్రయాణ సౌకర్యాలు మెరుగుపడతాయని పేర్కొన్నారు.
కార్యక్రమంలో ఆర్టీసీ కార్మిక సంఘాల గుర్తింపు ఎన్నికలను త్వరలో నిర్వహిస్తామని మంత్రి ప్రకటించారు. ఎన్నికైన సంఘాలతో చర్చలు జరిపి ఆర్టీసీ విలీనానికి సంబంధించిన అంశాలు మరియు కార్మిక సంక్షేమ చర్యలపై నిర్ణయాలు తీసుకుంటామని హామీ ఇచ్చారు.
హైదరాబాద్లో ట్రాఫిక్ మరియు వాయు కాలుష్య సమస్యలు పెరుగుతున్న నేపథ్యంలో ప్రభుత్వం ఎలక్ట్రిక్ మొబిలిటీ మౌలిక వసతుల విస్తరణపై ప్రత్యేక దృష్టి సారిస్తున్నట్లు అధికారులు తెలిపారు.

The Telangana government expanded its green public transport initiative by launching 60 new electric buses in Hyderabad on Wednesday. Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar inaugurated the buses at the TGSRTC Kukatpally depot.
Speaking at the event, the minister said the government is focusing on promoting sustainable urban mobility and reducing pollution levels in Hyderabad through the expansion of electric public transport services. Officials stated that around 540 electric buses are currently operating in Hyderabad, while nearly 1,000 are functioning across Telangana.
Ponnam Prabhakar said increased use of electric buses would help improve commuter convenience while supporting environmentally friendly transportation systems in the city. Hyderabad has been witnessing growing concerns over traffic congestion and air pollution in recent years.
During the programme, the minister also announced that RTC workers’ union recognition elections would be conducted soon. He assured that discussions regarding RTC merger-related issues and welfare measures would be held with the elected unions.
Officials said the state government is continuing efforts to strengthen electric mobility infrastructure as part of Telangana’s long-term sustainable transport strategy.
