West Bengal Signs PM SHRI Schools MoU With Centre Under NEP 2020 Vision

కేంద్ర విద్యాశాఖ ఆధ్వర్యంలోని పీఎం శ్రీ పాఠశాలల అమలు కోసం పశ్చిమ బెంగాల్ ప్రభుత్వం కేంద్రంతో కీలక ఒప్పందం కుదుర్చుకుంది. 2026 మే 15న జరిగిన కార్యక్రమంలో స్కూల్ ఎడ్యుకేషన్ అండ్ లిటరసీ విభాగం కార్యదర్శి సంజయ్ కుమార్ సమక్షంలో అవగాహన ఒప్పందంపై సంతకాలు జరిగాయి.
ఈ ఒప్పందంలో పశ్చిమ బెంగాల్ ప్రభుత్వ తరఫున అదనపు ప్రధాన కార్యదర్శి బినోద్ కుమార్, అదనపు కార్యదర్శి ధీరజ్ సహు పాల్గొన్నారు. కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వ తరఫున విద్యాశాఖ అధికారులు ఒప్పంద ప్రక్రియను పూర్తి చేశారు.
జాతీయ విద్యా విధానం 2020 లక్ష్యాలకు అనుగుణంగా ప్రభుత్వ పాఠశాలలను ఆదర్శ విద్యాసంస్థలుగా అభివృద్ధి చేయడం పీఎం శ్రీ పథక ప్రధాన ఉద్దేశ్యం. ఈ పాఠశాలలు సమీపంలోని ఇతర పాఠశాలలకు మార్గదర్శక కేంద్రాలుగా పనిచేయనున్నాయి.
విద్యా ప్రమాణాలు, సాంకేతిక వసతులు, నవీన బోధనా విధానాలు, సమగ్ర విద్యా అభివృద్ధిపై ప్రత్యేక దృష్టి పెట్టనున్నట్లు అధికారులు తెలిపారు. గ్రామీణ మరియు పట్టణ ప్రాంతాల ప్రభుత్వ పాఠశాలల్లో మౌలిక వసతుల మెరుగుదలకూ ఈ పథకం ఉపయోగపడనుంది.
కార్యక్రమంలో విభు గోయల్, డాక్టర్ అమర్ప్రీత్ దుగ్గల్, యు.పీ. సింగ్ తదితర ఉన్నతాధికారులు కూడా పాల్గొన్నారు. ఇప్పటివరకు పీఎం శ్రీ పథకం అమలుకు దూరంగా ఉన్న పశ్చిమ బెంగాల్ ఇప్పుడు అధికారికంగా ఇందులో చేరడం విద్యారంగంలో కీలక పరిణామంగా భావిస్తున్నారు.

The Government of West Bengal on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Union Ministry of Education for the implementation of the PM SHRI Schools initiative across the state.
The agreement was signed on May 15, 2026, in the presence of Department of School Education and Literacy Secretary Sanjay Kumar. West Bengal was represented by Additional Chief Secretary Binod Kumar and Additional Secretary Dheeraj Sahu during the signing ceremony.
The PM SHRI scheme is aimed at transforming existing government schools into model institutions aligned with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. These schools are expected to function as mentor institutions for nearby schools and improve overall educational standards.
Officials stated that the initiative would focus on better learning outcomes, innovation-driven education, improved infrastructure, and holistic student development. The scheme is also expected to strengthen facilities in both rural and urban government schools across West Bengal.
Senior officials including Vibhu Goel, Dr. Amarpreet Duggal, and U.P. Singh were also present at the event. The development is considered politically and administratively significant as West Bengal had earlier remained outside the PM SHRI implementation framework.
