హైదరాబాద్లో మీడియాతో మాట్లాడిన కేటీఆర్, రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వం కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం తీసుకొచ్చిన RDSS (Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme) పథకంలో చేరడాన్ని తీవ్రంగా విమర్శించారు. ఈ పథకం ద్వారా విద్యుత్ రంగాన్ని క్రమంగా ప్రైవేటీకరణ వైపు తీసుకెళ్తున్నారని ఆరోపించారు.
రైతులకు ఇప్పటివరకు నిరంతర ఉచిత విద్యుత్ అందిస్తున్నామని, కానీ స్మార్ట్ మీటర్ల అమలుతో భవిష్యత్తులో మీటరింగ్ వ్యవస్థ పెరిగే అవకాశం ఉందని ఆయన పేర్కొన్నారు. ఉచిత విద్యుత్ పథకం భవిష్యత్తుపై ప్రజలు అప్రమత్తంగా ఉండాలని కేటీఆర్ పిలుపునిచ్చారు.
ఇటీవల తెలంగాణలో ప్రీపెయిడ్ స్మార్ట్ మీటర్ల అమలుపై రాజకీయ చర్చలు వేడెక్కుతున్నాయి. ప్రభుత్వం మాత్రం వ్యవసాయ కనెక్షన్లకు మినహాయింపు ఉంటుందని ఇప్పటికే స్పష్టం చేసింది. అయినప్పటికీ ప్రతిపక్షాలు రైతుల్లో ఆందోళన పెరుగుతోందని చెబుతున్నాయి.
