ఎల్నినో ప్రభావంతో రాష్ట్రంలో వర్షాభావ పరిస్థితులు ఏర్పడే అవకాశాలపై తెలంగాణ ముఖ్యమంత్రి ఎ. రేవంత్ రెడ్డి ఉన్నతాధికారులను అప్రమత్తం చేశారు. డాక్టర్ బీఆర్ అంబేద్కర్ తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్ర సచివాలయంలో నిర్వహించిన ఉన్నతస్థాయి సమీక్ష సమావేశంలో వర్షాకాలం వ్యవసాయ సీజన్కు సంబంధించిన ముందస్తు చర్యలపై ఆయన సమగ్రంగా చర్చించారు.
కృష్ణా, గోదావరి నదుల జలాల్లో తెలంగాణకు రావాల్సిన వాటా నీటిని నిర్ధారించేందుకు ఇప్పటి నుంచే చర్యలు చేపట్టాలని ముఖ్యమంత్రి ఆదేశించారు. మహారాష్ట్ర, కర్ణాటక రాష్ట్రాలతో ముందస్తు చర్చలు జరిపి ప్రొరేటా ప్రకారం తెలంగాణకు నీటి వాటా అందేలా కార్యాచరణ రూపొందించాలని సూచించారు.
మహారాష్ట్రలోని కోయనా డ్యామ్ నీటి వినియోగంపై ప్రత్యేకంగా చర్చించి, విద్యుత్ సరఫరా మార్పిడి అవకాశాలను పరిశీలించాలని ప్రభుత్వ ప్రధాన కార్యదర్శి కె. రామకృష్ణారావుకు సూచించారు.
గోదావరి, ప్రాణహిత నదుల్లో వచ్చే వరద జలాలను సమర్థంగా వినియోగించుకునేందుకు దీర్ఘకాలిక విధానాన్ని రూపొందించాలని ముఖ్యమంత్రి పేర్కొన్నారు. రాష్ట్రంలోని అన్ని డ్యామ్ల గేట్ల మరమ్మతులు యుద్ధ ప్రాతిపదికన పూర్తి చేయాలని, ఇందుకు అవసరమైన నిధులు తక్షణమే విడుదల చేయాలని ఆదేశించారు.
వ్యవసాయ రంగంలో వాతావరణ శాఖ అంచనాలకు అనుగుణంగా పంటల సాగు ప్రణాళికలు రూపొందించాలని చెప్పారు. తక్కువ నీరు వినియోగించే పంటలు, పంటల మార్పిడి, పంటల వైవిధ్యంపై రైతులకు రైతు వేదికల ద్వారా అవగాహన కల్పించాలని సూచించారు. ఇందుకోసం ఏఐ సాంకేతికతతో రూపొందించిన వీడియోలను వినియోగించాలని ఆదేశించారు.
రామగుండం ఎరువుల కర్మాగారంలో ఉత్పత్తి అయ్యే యూరియాను తెలంగాణకు పూర్తిగా కేటాయించే అంశంపై కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వానికి లేఖ రాస్తామని ముఖ్యమంత్రి తెలిపారు.
గత ఏడాది వరదల సమయంలో కామారెడ్డి, ఖమ్మం, వరంగల్ జిల్లాల్లో ఇచ్చిన హామీల అమలుపై నివేదిక సమర్పించాలని అధికారులను ఆదేశించారు. వరదలు, వడగాలులు వంటి విపత్తుల సమయంలో బాధితులకు తక్షణ సహాయం అందేలా చర్యలు తీసుకోవాలని సూచించారు.
హైదరాబాద్ నగరంతో పాటు రాష్ట్రంలోని ఏ ప్రాంతంలోనూ తాగునీటి సమస్యలు తలెత్తకుండా ముందస్తు కార్యాచరణ ప్రణాళిక సిద్ధం చేయాలని, విద్యుత్ సరఫరా అంతరాయం కలిగిన సందర్భాల్లో వెంటనే స్పందించేలా శాఖలను సిద్ధం చేయాలని ముఖ్యమంత్రి ఆదేశించారు.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to prepare for possible drought-like conditions due to the anticipated impact of El Niño. During a high-level review meeting held at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat, the Chief Minister reviewed preparedness measures for the upcoming monsoon and agricultural season.
He instructed irrigation officials to ensure Telangana receives its rightful share of water from the Krishna and Godavari river systems. Officials were asked to initiate discussions with Maharashtra and Karnataka to secure Telangana’s allocation under inter-state water-sharing arrangements.
The Chief Minister also suggested exploring a proposal related to water utilization from Maharashtra’s Koyna Dam and possible power exchange arrangements between the two states.
Highlighting the large volume of Godavari floodwaters flowing into the sea annually, Revanth Reddy called for a clear long-term strategy to utilize floodwaters from the Godavari and Pranahita rivers more effectively.
He ordered immediate repair and maintenance of dam gates across Telangana and assured that adequate funds would be made available for critical infrastructure works. Officials informed the meeting that ₹300 crore had already been released for dam maintenance.
In the agriculture sector, the Chief Minister directed officials to promote crop diversification, water-efficient crops and scientific crop planning based on weather forecasts. He also recommended using AI-generated educational videos to create awareness among farmers through Rythu Vedikas and television broadcasts.
Revanth Reddy further announced that the state government would write to the Centre seeking allocation of the entire urea production from the Ramagundam fertilizer plant to Telangana.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation of flood-related assurances made in Kamareddy, Khammam and Warangal districts during last year’s floods. Officials were instructed to ensure timely relief and compensation during disasters and strengthen preparedness for floods, heatwaves and drinking water shortages.
