Concerns over the spread of the Ebola virus are rising across several African nations after the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) warned that 10 additional countries are at risk of a possible outbreak.
The warning comes amid ongoing Ebola concerns in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda, where cases linked to the virus have already been reported. Africa CDC Director-General Jean Kaseya stated that Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Zambia are among the countries facing potential Ebola risk.
Health authorities in neighboring countries have reportedly intensified surveillance and preparedness measures to prevent cross-border transmission. Officials fear the virus could spread further across the region if preventive actions are delayed.
