ప్రాణత్యాగం చేసి తెలుగు జాతికి గుర్తింపు తెచ్చిన పొట్టి శ్రీరాములు స్ఫూర్తిగా ఉండాలని, ఆయన స్మృతివనం నిర్మాణానికి పూర్తి సహకారం అందిస్తామని మంత్రి నారా లోకేష్ అన్నారు.

అమరావతిలో తుళ్లూరు–పెదపరిమి మధ్య కేటాయించిన 6.8 ఎకరాల్లో 58 అడుగుల కాంస్య విగ్రహం, స్మృతివనం, ఆడిటోరియం నిర్మాణానికి నారా లోకేష్ శంకుస్థాపన చేశారు. అనంతరం ఆయన విగ్రహానికి పూలమాల వేసి నివాళులు అర్పించారు. సభలో మాట్లాడుతూ పొట్టి శ్రీరాములు ప్రాణత్యాగం వల్లే ఆంధ్ర రాష్ట్రం ఏర్పడిందని, ఆయన త్యాగం కారణంగానే దేశంలో భాషాపరమైన రాష్ట్రాల ఏర్పాటు జరిగిందని గుర్తు చేశారు.
పొట్టి శ్రీరాములు 58 రోజుల పాటు ఆమరణ నిరాహార దీక్ష చేసి రాష్ట్ర స్థాపనకు మార్గం సుగమం చేశారని లోకేష్ తెలిపారు. ఆయన కేవలం భాషా రాష్ట్రాల కోసం మాత్రమే కాకుండా, సమాజంలో మార్పు కోసం దళితుల ఆలయ ప్రవేశ హక్కు వంటి అంశాలపై కూడా పోరాడారని గుర్తుచేశారు. ‘‘విగ్రహం ఏర్పాటు కేవలం కమిట్మెంట్ కాదు, ఇది నాకు ఒక ఎమోషన్’’ అని లోకేష్ అన్నారు.
ఆర్యవైశ్య కార్పొరేషన్ ఛైర్మన్ డూండి రాకేష్ మాట్లాడుతూ అమరావతిలో విగ్రహం, స్మృతివనం నిర్మాణానికి కూటమి ప్రభుత్వం వెంటనే అంగీకరించిందని తెలిపారు. మంత్రి టీజీ భరత్ ఈ కార్యక్రమానికి తొలి విరాళంగా రూ.కోటి అందజేశారు. మంత్రి పి. నారాయణ మాట్లాడుతూ పొట్టి శ్రీరాములు త్యాగం దేశ చరిత్రలో మైలురాయిగా నిలిచిందని, 2026 మార్చి 16 నాటికి స్మృతివనం నిర్మాణం పూర్తి చేస్తామని చెప్పారు.
ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో మంత్రులు టీజీ భరత్, పి. నారాయణ, ఎమ్మెల్యేలు, ప్రజాప్రతినిధులు పాల్గొన్నారు. పొట్టి శ్రీరాములు వారసులను లోకేష్ ఘనంగా సత్కరించారు

In Amaravati, between Thulluru and Pedaparimi, Lokesh laid the foundation stone for a 58-feet bronze statue, Smritivanam, and an auditorium on 6.8 acres of land allocated by the government. Later, he paid floral tributes to the statue of Potti Sriramulu and lit a lamp. Speaking at the public meeting, Lokesh recalled that Sriramulu’s supreme sacrifice paved the way for the formation of Andhra State and, subsequently, the creation of linguistic states across India.
He noted that Sriramulu observed a 58-day hunger strike, which ultimately led to the establishment of Andhra State. Apart from linguistic states, Sriramulu also fought for social change, including the rights of Dalits for temple entry, undertaking several hunger strikes. “This statue is not just a commitment; it is an emotion for me,” Lokesh said.
Arya Vysya Corporation Chairman Doondi Rakesh said the coalition government immediately accepted the proposal for the memorial. Minister T.G. Bharat contributed the first donation of ₹1 crore to the project. Minister P. Narayana said Sriramulu’s sacrifice was a historic milestone and announced that the memorial would be completed by March 16, 2026.
Ministers T.G. Bharat, P. Narayana, MLAs, and several public representatives participated in the event. Descendants of Potti Sriramulu were also felicitated by Minister Lokesh.
