సిద్దిపేట: మల్లన్న సాగర్ రిజర్వాయర్ భద్రతకు ముప్పు కలిగించేలా బ్లాస్టింగ్ పనులు జరుగుతున్నాయని బీఆర్ఎస్ ఆందోళన వ్యక్తం చేసింది. రిజర్వాయర్ కట్టకు సమీపంలో మూసీ పంప్‌హౌస్ నిర్మాణం కోసం జరుగుతున్నట్లు పేర్కొన్న పేలుళ్లను తక్షణమే నిలిపివేయాలని రాష్ట్ర నీటిపారుదల శాఖ మంత్రి ఉత్తమ్ కుమార్ రెడ్డిని కోరింది.
బీఆర్ఎస్ విడుదల చేసిన బహిరంగ లేఖలో, 60 మీటర్ల ఎత్తున్న మల్లన్న సాగర్ కట్టకు 600 మీటర్ల పరిధిలో నిర్మాణాలు, పేలుళ్లు జరపకూడదని పేర్కొంది. అయితే, కట్టకు కేవలం 200 మీటర్ల దూరంలోనే భారీ బ్లాస్టింగ్‌లు జరుగుతున్నాయని ఆరోపించింది.
ప్రస్తుతం రిజర్వాయర్‌లో 12.5 టీఎంసీల నీరు నిల్వ ఉందని బీఆర్ఎస్ తెలిపింది. కట్టకు ఏదైనా నష్టం జరిగితే 60 గ్రామాల ప్రజల భద్రతతో పాటు సుమారు 18 లక్షల ఎకరాలకు సంబంధించిన సాగునీటి ప్రయోజనాలు, హైదరాబాద్ తాగునీటి అవసరాలపై ప్రభావం పడే ప్రమాదం ఉందని ఆందోళన వ్యక్తం చేసింది.
బ్లాస్టింగ్ పనులను వెంటనే నిలిపివేసి, నిబంధనల ఉల్లంఘనపై విచారణ జరిపి బాధ్యులపై చర్యలు తీసుకోవాలని డిమాండ్ చేసింది. అవసరమైన అనుమతులు, భద్రతా పరిశీలనలు పూర్తయిన తర్వాతే పంప్‌హౌస్ నిర్మాణ పనులను కొనసాగించాలని కోరింది.
మల్లన్న సాగర్ నిర్వాసితుల పునరావాస సమస్యను కూడా బీఆర్ఎస్ ప్రస్తావించింది. తమ ప్రభుత్వ హయాంలో 90 శాతం పూర్తయినట్లు పేర్కొన్న పునరావాస కాలనీల్లో మిగిలిన ప్లాట్లు, ఇతర ప్రయోజనాలను న్యాయస్థానం ఆదేశాల మేరకు వెంటనే కల్పించాలని డిమాండ్ చేసింది.
రిజర్వాయర్ భద్రత విషయంలో నిర్లక్ష్యం జరిగితే కాంగ్రెస్ ప్రభుత్వమే బాధ్యత వహించాలని బీఆర్ఎస్ హెచ్చరించింది. అయితే, బ్లాస్టింగ్‌ల వల్ల రిజర్వాయర్‌కు వాస్తవంగా ప్రమాదం ఉందా, సంబంధిత భద్రతా నిబంధనలు ఉల్లంఘించారా అనే అంశాలపై అధికారిక విచారణ ద్వారా నిర్ధారణ కావాల్సి ఉంది.

Siddipet: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has raised concerns over the safety of the Mallanna Sagar reservoir in Telangana, alleging that blasting operations near the reservoir bund for the Musi project pump house could pose a risk. The party has demanded that Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy immediately suspend the work.
In an open letter addressed to the minister, BRS stated that construction and blasting should not be permitted within a 600-metre radius of the 60-metre-high Mallanna Sagar bund. It alleged that heavy blasting was being carried out just 200 metres from the structure.
According to the letter, the reservoir currently holds 12.5 thousand million cubic feet (TMC) of water. BRS warned that any damage to the bund could threaten the safety of residents in 60 villages and affect irrigation benefits covering approximately 18 lakh acres, as well as Hyderabad’s drinking water requirements.
The party demanded an immediate halt to the blasting, an investigation into the alleged violations and strict action against those responsible. It also called for the pump house construction to proceed only after the necessary permissions and safety assessments had been completed.
BRS also raised concerns about the rehabilitation of families displaced by the Mallanna Sagar project. It demanded the allocation of pending plots and the delivery of remaining rehabilitation and resettlement benefits in accordance with court directions.
The party warned that the Congress government would be responsible for any damage caused by negligence. However, the alleged safety violations and the actual risk posed by the blasting require independent verification through official records and a technical assessment.
