Telangana Director General of Police C.V. Anand has called for stronger storytelling, improved public awareness and wider recognition of police personnel through Suraksha, the Telangana Police daily, which has completed one year following its recent transformation.

Originally launched several decades ago, the publication underwent a major revamp last year, with renewed emphasis on quality content and the regular circulation of editions among police personnel.

Interacting with the Suraksha team, Anand stressed the importance of documenting police services, sacrifices, exemplary work, innovative policing initiatives and public welfare activities through engaging stories and awareness articles. He also underlined the need to counter misinformation effectively.

The DGP said the achievements of personnel across all ranks should receive greater visibility. Coverage should not be restricted to unit officers; the good work and contributions of police personnel at every level should also be highlighted.

Local Language Skills Essential for Better Policing

Anand emphasised that proficiency in the local language and familiarity with regional dialects were essential for understanding people’s concerns and communicating effectively.

He noted that language skills help police personnel establish stronger connections with the public and develop a better understanding of local issues.

Through Suraksha, the department aims to communicate its work more effectively, showcase the contributions of its personnel and increase public awareness of police initiatives and welfare activities.
