The guidelines restrict doctors and hospitals from using unsupported claims such as “best doctor,” “No. 1 specialist” and “100% success” to attract patients. Claims about professional achievements and treatment outcomes must not mislead the public, and relevant assertions must be objectively verifiable where required.

Patient Photos, Testimonials and Fake Reviews

The rules prohibit using patient success stories, before-and-after photographs and celebrity endorsements for promotional purposes. Penalties for Violations

The NMC guidelines provide for graded disciplinary measures depending on the nature and recurrence of violations. These may include warnings, mandatory ethics training, censure, monetary penalties and suspension of medical registration.
