గత 12 ఏళ్లలో పర్యావరణానికి సంబంధించిన అనేక రంగాల్లో భారత్ పురోగతి సాధించిందని మోదీ తెలిపారు. ముఖ్యంగా సౌర విద్యుత్ సామర్థ్యం సుమారు 2 గిగావాట్ల స్థాయి నుంచి 160 గిగావాట్లకు పైగా పెరిగిందని చెప్పారు. అధికారిక గణాంకాల ప్రకారం 2026 జూలై 31 నాటికి దేశ సౌర విద్యుత్ స్థాపిత సామర్థ్యం 164.59 గిగావాట్లకు చేరింది. ప్రధానమంత్రి సూర్య ఘర్ ఉచిత్ బిజ్లీ పథకం ద్వారా 50 లక్షలకు పైగా ఇళ్లలో పైకప్పు సౌర విద్యుత్ వ్యవస్థలు ఏర్పాటు చేసినట్లు మోదీ వెల్లడించారు. ఒక్కో కుటుంబానికి రూ.80,000 వరకు ఆర్థిక సహాయం అందిస్తున్నట్లు తెలిపారు. Press Information Bureau

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the National Green Tribunal’s international conference, “The Future of Environment and Climate Dynamics”, at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. He highlighted India’s efforts in renewable energy, environmental protection and climate action while addressing the gathering. Press Information Bureau
The two-day conference is being attended by judges, judicial representatives, environmental experts, scientists, policymakers and senior government officials from India and abroad. Judicial representatives from 17 countries are participating in discussions on climate justice, environmental governance, sustainable cities and the energy transition. Press Information Bureau
Modi said India had made significant progress across several environmental sectors over the past 12 years. He particularly highlighted the expansion of solar power capacity, which he said had increased from around 2 GW to more than 160 GW. The Prime Minister also referred to the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, saying that more than five million homes had installed rooftop solar systems under the programme. The government provides financial assistance of up to Rs 80,000 per household under the scheme. Press Information Bureau
He said around three million farmers had received solar pumps under the PM-KUSUM scheme. Modi also referred to the increased use of LED bulbs and other energy-efficiency measures, saying these initiatives have helped reduce electricity consumption and carbon emissions. Press Information Bureau

On global climate action, Modi argued that responsibility for carbon emissions should be assessed in a fair manner. He said India’s per-capita carbon emissions remain below half the global average.
