World-Class Universities to Set Up Campuses

హైదరాబాద్‌ను గ్లోబల్ నాలెడ్జ్ హబ్‌గా తీర్చిదిద్దేందుకు కార్యాచరణ

హైదరాబాద్‌ను భారతదేశంలో తొలి, అతిపెద్ద గ్లోబల్ నాలెడ్జ్ హబ్‌గా అభివృద్ధి చేసేందుకు ప్రపంచస్థాయి విద్యాసంస్థలతో భాగస్వామ్యాలు, ఆఫ్‌షోర్ క్యాంపస్‌ల ఏర్పాటుపై దృష్టి సారించాలని ముఖ్యమంత్రి ఎ. రేవంత్ రెడ్డి అధికారులను ఆదేశించారు. యూకే, అమెరికా పర్యటనలో సాధించిన పురోగతిపై తెలంగాణ రైజింగ్ ప్రతినిధి బృందంతో ఆయన సమీక్ష నిర్వహించారు.

యూకే, అమెరికా పర్యటనలో ప్రపంచంలోని ప్రముఖ విద్యాసంస్థలతో జరిగిన చర్చల ద్వారా హైదరాబాద్‌లో అంతర్జాతీయ విద్యా అవకాశాలను విస్తరించేందుకు కీలక ముందడుగు పడిందని ముఖ్యమంత్రి తెలిపారు. విశ్వవిద్యాలయాలు, కళాశాలలు, పాఠశాలలను భాగస్వామ్యాలు, ఆఫ్‌షోర్ క్యాంపస్‌ల ద్వారా హైదరాబాద్‌కు తీసుకురావాలని ప్రభుత్వం అంకితభావంతో పనిచేయాలని సూచించారు.

దీంతో తెలంగాణతో పాటు దేశవ్యాప్తంగా విద్యార్థులు, నిపుణులు, ప్రభుత్వ అధికారులు అంతర్జాతీయంగా గుర్తింపు పొందిన సర్టిఫికేషన్ ప్రోగ్రామ్‌లు, కోర్సులను అభ్యసించే అవకాశం కలుగుతుందని చెప్పారు.

ముఖ్యమంత్రి నేతృత్వంలో ఐటీ, పరిశ్రమల శాఖ మంత్రి దుద్దిళ్ల శ్రీధర్ బాబుతో పాటు తెలంగాణ రైజింగ్ ప్రతినిధి బృందం ఆగస్టు 19 నుంచి 29 వరకు యూకేలో పర్యటించింది. అధికారుల బృందం అమెరికాలో పర్యటించింది. ఈ బృందంలో డాక్టర్ ఎంసీఆర్ హెచ్‌ఆర్‌డీ సంస్థ వైస్ చైర్‌పర్సన్ డాక్టర్ శాంతికుమారి, ముఖ్యమంత్రి సలహాదారు, ఎక్స్-ఆఫిషియో ప్రత్యేక ప్రధాన కార్యదర్శి కె. రామకృష్ణారావు, సీఎంఓ ప్రిన్సిపల్ సెక్రటరీ ఎన్. శ్రీధర్ ఉన్నారు.

ఈ పర్యటనలో నార్త్‌ఈస్టర్న్ యూనివర్సిటీ, బోస్టన్, యూనివర్సిటీ ఆఫ్ లండన్ భారత్‌లో తమ తొలి ఆఫ్‌షోర్ క్యాంపస్‌లను హైదరాబాద్‌లో ఏర్పాటు చేసేందుకు అంగీకరించాయి. లండన్ స్కూల్ ఆఫ్ ఎకనామిక్స్ (LSE), స్కూల్ ఆఫ్ ఓరియంటల్ అండ్ ఆఫ్రికన్ స్టడీస్ (SOAS) ప్రతినిధులతో జరిగిన చర్చలు కూడా సానుకూలంగా సాగాయి.

ఆఫ్‌షోర్ క్యాంపస్‌లు, పరిశ్రమలతో భాగస్వామ్యాలు, కొత్త బోధనా విధానాలు, తరగతి గది పరస్పర చర్చా వేదికలు, అధ్యాపకుల భాగస్వామ్యంపై పరిశీలన కోసం ఆయా సంస్థల ప్రతినిధి బృందాలు హైదరాబాద్‌ను సందర్శించేందుకు అంగీకరించాయి.

డాక్టర్ ఎంసీఆర్ హెచ్‌ఆర్‌డీ ఇన్‌స్టిట్యూట్‌లో సీనియర్ ప్రభుత్వ, కార్పొరేట్ అధికారుల కోసం స్వల్పకాలిక ఎగ్జిక్యూటివ్ ఎడ్యుకేషన్ ప్రోగ్రామ్‌లను ప్రారంభించేందుకు హార్వర్డ్ యూనివర్సిటీ అంగీకరించింది.

ఆక్స్‌ఫర్డ్ యూనివర్సిటీ, మసాచుసెట్స్ ఇన్‌స్టిట్యూట్ ఆఫ్ టెక్నాలజీ (MIT), లండన్ బిజినెస్ స్కూల్, కేంబ్రిడ్జ్ యూనివర్సిటీ, ఇంపీరియల్ కాలేజ్ లండన్ వంటి ప్రముఖ విద్యాసంస్థల ప్రతినిధులతో తెలంగాణ రైజింగ్ బృందం చర్చలు జరిపింది. అమెరికాలో నార్త్‌ఈస్టర్న్ యూనివర్సిటీ, వర్జీనియా టెక్ యూనివర్సిటీ ప్రతినిధులతోనూ చర్చలు జరిగాయి. వీటి ఫలితంగా పలు ఒప్పందాలు కుదిరాయని, త్వరలో మరిన్ని ఒప్పందాలు జరిగే అవకాశం ఉందని ప్రభుత్వం తెలిపింది.

ఈ పర్యటన ఫలితాలు తెలంగాణ దీర్ఘకాలిక ఆర్థిక లక్ష్యాలకు గణనీయమైన ప్రోత్సాహాన్ని అందిస్తాయని ముఖ్యమంత్రి అన్నారు. 2034 నాటికి రాష్ట్ర ఆర్థిక వ్యవస్థను 1 ట్రిలియన్ డాలర్లకు, 2047 నాటికి 3 ట్రిలియన్ డాలర్లకు తీసుకెళ్లాలన్న లక్ష్యానికి ప్రపంచస్థాయి విద్యాసంస్థలతో కుదిరిన ఒప్పందాలు, అవగాహన ఒప్పందాలు, లెటర్స్ ఆఫ్ ఇంటెంట్ బలాన్ని చేకూరుస్తాయని పేర్కొన్నారు.

తెలంగాణతో పాటు దేశంలోని యువత, చిన్నారులకు అత్యుత్తమ విద్యా అవకాశాలు అందించేందుకు ప్రత్యేక టాస్క్‌ఫోర్స్‌కు తాను నాయకత్వం వహిస్తానని ముఖ్యమంత్రి తెలిపారు. హైదరాబాద్‌కు రానున్న ప్రపంచస్థాయి విద్యాసంస్థలు యువతకు కొత్త అవకాశాలను సృష్టిస్తాయని, వాటిని పూర్తిస్థాయిలో వినియోగించుకుని ప్రపంచస్థాయిలో పోటీపడగల నైపుణ్యాలను అభివృద్ధి చేసుకోవాలని సూచించారు.

డిసెంబర్ 7, 8, 9 తేదీల్లో జరగనున్న ఇన్వెస్ట్ తెలంగాణ గ్లోబల్ సమ్మిట్ నేపథ్యంలో ప్రపంచస్థాయి విద్యాసంస్థలు, క్రీడా సంస్థలు, వాటి ద్వారా తెలంగాణపై కలిగే ప్రభావం వంటి అంశాలపై ప్రత్యేక కార్యాచరణ రూపొందించి ముందుకు సాగాలని ముఖ్యమంత్రి అధికారులను ఆదేశించారు.

Hyderabad to Be Developed as India’s Largest Global Knowledge Hub

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to pursue a focused action plan to develop Hyderabad into India’s first and largest global knowledge hub. He reviewed the progress achieved during the recent UK and US visits with the Telangana Rising delegation.

The Chief Minister said the government should work with strong commitment to bring leading universities, colleges and schools from across the world to Hyderabad through partnerships and offshore campuses. Such initiatives, he said, would give students, professionals and government officials from Telangana and across India access to globally recognised certification programmes and courses.

The Telangana Rising delegation, led by the Chief Minister and accompanied by IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, visited the UK from August 19 to 29, while an official team travelled to the US. The delegation included Dr. Shanti Kumari, Vice-Chairperson of the Dr MCR HRD Institute, Chief Minister’s Adviser and Ex-Officio Special Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, and CMO Principal Secretary N. Sridhar.

During the visit, Northeastern University, Boston, and the University of London agreed to establish their first offshore campuses in India in Hyderabad. Discussions with the London School of Economics (LSE) and the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) also made positive progress.

The institutions agreed to send their delegations to Hyderabad to explore offshore campuses, partnerships with industry, new teaching methods, classroom interaction platforms and faculty collaboration.

Harvard University also agreed to launch short-term executive education programmes for senior government and corporate officials at the Dr MCR HRD Institute.

The Telangana Rising delegation held discussions with representatives of leading institutions including the University of Oxford, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), London Business School, University of Cambridge and Imperial College London. In the US, the delegation held talks with representatives of Northeastern University and Virginia Tech University. Several agreements were reached, with more expected in the near future.

The Chief Minister said the outcomes of the international visits would provide a significant boost to Telangana’s long-term economic goals. He said agreements, memoranda of understanding and letters of intent with leading global educational institutions would strengthen the state’s ambition of becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047.

He said he would lead a special task force aimed at providing the best educational opportunities to young people and children in Telangana and across India. The global institutions coming to Hyderabad, he said, would create new opportunities for the youth, who should make full use of them and develop skills to compete at the global level.

In preparation for the Invest Telangana Global Summit scheduled for December 7, 8 and 9, the Chief Minister directed officials to prepare a focused action plan covering global educational institutions, sports organisations and their potential impact on Telangana.
