సూర్యాపేట జిల్లా కోదాడ మండలంలోని శ్రీరంగాపురం గ్రామ సమీపంలో శనివారం జరిగిన అనుమానాస్పద హిట్ అండ్ రన్ రోడ్డు ప్రమాదంలో ఇద్దరు రైస్మిల్ కార్మికులు మృతి చెందారు. మృతులను రాజేష్, శివగా గుర్తించారు. వీరిద్దరూ బీహార్కు చెందినవారై స్థానిక రైస్మిల్లో కార్మికులుగా పనిచేస్తున్నారు.
స్థానికులు రోడ్డుపక్కన ధ్వంసమైన మోటార్సైకిల్తో పాటు ఇద్దరు వ్యక్తులు అపస్మారక స్థితిలో పడి ఉండటాన్ని గమనించి వెంటనే పోలీసులకు సమాచారం అందించారు. ఘటనాస్థలికి చేరుకున్న పోలీసులు పరిశీలించగా ఇద్దరూ మృతి చెందినట్లు నిర్ధారించారు.
కోదాడ రూరల్ పోలీసులు మృతదేహాలను ప్రభుత్వ ఆసుపత్రి మార్చురీకి తరలించి పోస్టుమార్టం నిర్వహించేందుకు చర్యలు చేపట్టారు. ప్రమాదానికి కారణమైన వాహనం ఘటన అనంతరం అక్కడి నుంచి పరారైనట్లు పోలీసులు అనుమానిస్తున్నారు.
ప్రమాదానికి పాల్పడిన వాహనం ఏదనే అంశంపై పోలీసులు దర్యాప్తు ప్రారంభించారు. పరిసర ప్రాంతాల్లోని సీసీటీవీ కెమెరాల దృశ్యాలను పరిశీలిస్తూ నిందిత వాహనాన్ని గుర్తించే ప్రయత్నాలు కొనసాగుతున్నాయి.

Two rice mill workers were killed in a suspected hit-and-run road accident near Srirangapuram village in Kodad mandal of Suryapet district on Saturday. The deceased were identified as Rajesh and Shiva, both natives of Bihar who were employed at a local rice mill.
Local residents discovered the two men lying dead beside their damaged motorcycle on the roadside and immediately informed the police. Officers reached the spot and confirmed the deaths before beginning further investigation.
Kodad Rural Police shifted the bodies to the Government Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. Preliminary investigation suggests that an unidentified vehicle may have struck the motorcycle and fled from the scene.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to identify the vehicle involved. CCTV footage from nearby areas and other available evidence are being examined to trace those responsible for the suspected hit-and-run accident.
