తెలంగాణలో కొనసాగుతున్న తీవ్ర ఎండలు, వడగాలుల ప్రభావంతో ఇప్పటివరకు 16 మంది మృతి చెందినట్లు రాష్ట్ర రెవెన్యూ మంత్రి Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy వెల్లడించారు. రాష్ట్రంలోని పలు జిల్లాల్లో ఉష్ణోగ్రతలు ప్రమాదకర స్థాయికి చేరడంతో ప్రజలు తీవ్ర ఇబ్బందులు ఎదుర్కొంటున్నారు.
హైదరాబాద్తో పాటు ఉత్తర తెలంగాణ జిల్లాల్లో మధ్యాహ్న సమయంలో తీవ్ర వడగాలులు వీచుతున్నాయి. కొన్ని ప్రాంతాల్లో ఉష్ణోగ్రతలు 45 డిగ్రీల సెల్సియస్కు చేరువవుతున్నట్లు అధికారులు తెలిపారు. ముఖ్యంగా వృద్ధులు, చిన్నపిల్లలు, బహిరంగ ప్రదేశాల్లో పనిచేసే కార్మికులు ఎక్కువగా ప్రభావితమవుతున్నారు.
వడదెబ్బ కారణంగా మరణించిన వారి కుటుంబాలకు ప్రభుత్వం రూ.4 లక్షల ఎక్స్గ్రేషియా ప్రకటించింది. జిల్లా అధికారులకు అప్రమత్తంగా ఉండాలని ప్రభుత్వం ఆదేశాలు జారీ చేసింది. తాగునీటి సరఫరా, వైద్య సదుపాయాలపై ప్రత్యేక దృష్టి పెట్టాలని సూచించింది.
ప్రజలు అత్యవసరం అయితే తప్ప మధ్యాహ్నం 12 గంటల నుంచి సాయంత్రం 4 గంటల వరకు బయటకు రావద్దని అధికారులు హెచ్చరిస్తున్నారు. గ్రామీణ ప్రాంతాల్లో తాగునీటి సమస్యలు పెరుగుతున్న నేపథ్యంలో ప్రత్యేక ట్యాంకర్ల ద్వారా నీటి సరఫరా చర్యలు చేపడుతున్నారు.
తెలంగాణలో వేసవి తీవ్రత ప్రజారోగ్యంపై ప్రభావం చూపుతున్న నేపథ్యంలో ఆరోగ్య శాఖ కూడా హీట్ స్ట్రోక్ లక్షణాలపై అవగాహన కార్యక్రమాలు నిర్వహిస్తోంది.

Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy stated that 16 people have died so far due to the ongoing severe heatwave conditions in Telangana. Several districts across the state are witnessing dangerously high temperatures, causing widespread public distress.
Officials said temperatures in many districts, including parts of Hyderabad and north Telangana, are reaching close to 45 degrees Celsius during peak afternoon hours. Elderly people, children, and outdoor workers are among the most affected groups.
The Telangana government has announced an ex gratia payment of ₹4 lakh to the families of those who died due to heat-related causes. Authorities have instructed district administrations to remain on alert and strengthen public safety measures.
The government has also directed officials to ensure adequate drinking water supply and healthcare facilities in vulnerable areas. In several rural regions, special water tanker services are being arranged to tackle increasing drinking water shortages.
Officials advised people to avoid stepping outdoors between 12 PM and 4 PM unless absolutely necessary. The Health Department is also conducting awareness campaigns about heatstroke symptoms and precautionary measures as the heatwave continues across Telangana.
