A disturbing murder case in Hyderabad’s Old Alwal area of Medchal-Malkajgiri district has shocked residents after a woman allegedly killed her six-year-old daughter with the help of her partner and attempted to portray the incident as a missing case.
According to police officials, the accused woman, identified as Rekha, along with her partner Saikumar, allegedly planned the murder in advance. Investigators suspect the child was viewed as an obstacle to their relationship.
The incident surfaced after the girl was reported missing from their residence in Old Alwal. Police initially registered a suspicious missing case and began an investigation.
During the probe, CCTV footage collected from the locality and inconsistencies in the statements of the accused reportedly raised suspicion among investigators. Officials later intensified questioning and searched the residence thoroughly.
Police subsequently discovered the child’s body inside an overhead water tank located on the terrace of the house. Following interrogation, both suspects were arrested in connection with the murder.
The brutal nature of the crime involving a minor child has triggered outrage across Hyderabad. Police said further investigation is underway to establish the complete sequence of events and possible premeditation behind the murder.
