ఇటీవల ఇంటర్మీడియట్ ప్రవేశాలను తాత్కాలికంగా నిలిపివేస్తూ అధికారులు ప్రకటించిన నేపథ్యంలో విద్యార్థులు, తల్లిదండ్రుల్లో ఆందోళన వ్యక్తమైంది. దీనిపై ముఖ్యమంత్రి ఉన్నతాధికారులతో సమీక్ష నిర్వహించారు. ఎంపీ Vem Narender Reddy, తెలంగాణ ప్రభుత్వ ప్రధాన కార్యదర్శి K. Ramakrishna Rao తదితరులు సమావేశంలో పాల్గొన్నారు.
తెలంగాణ ఎడ్యుకేషన్ కమిషన్ రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వానికి సమర్పించిన నివేదికలో ఇంటర్మీడియట్ వ్యవస్థను రద్దు చేసి, సీబీఎస్ఈ తరహాలో 11, 12 తరగతులుగా కొనసాగించాలని సూచించినట్లు ప్రభుత్వం వెల్లడించింది. రాష్ట్రంలో ప్రభుత్వ పాఠశాలల్లో పదో తరగతి వరకు చదివిన విద్యార్థుల్లో చాలామంది ఇంటర్ కళాశాలల్లో చేరకుండా చదువు మానేస్తున్నారని నివేదికలో పేర్కొన్నారు. దీంతో డ్రాప్అవుట్ శాతం తగ్గించేందుకు ఈ మార్పు ఉపయోగపడుతుందని అధికారులు భావిస్తున్నారు.
అయితే విలీన ప్రక్రియలో పలు సాంకేతిక సమస్యలు ఉన్నందున దీనిపై మరింత అధ్యయనం అవసరమని ప్రభుత్వం నిర్ణయించింది. భాగస్వామ్య వర్గాలతో విస్తృత చర్చలు జరిపిన తర్వాతే తుది నిర్ణయం తీసుకుంటామని ముఖ్యమంత్రి తెలిపారు. ఈ అంశంపై ప్రత్యేక కమిటీ నివేదిక సమర్పించిన అనంతరం శాసనసభలో చర్చించి నిర్ణయం తీసుకుంటామని ప్రభుత్వం స్పష్టం చేసింది.

The Telangana government has decided to continue Intermediate admissions as usual for the current academic year despite ongoing discussions on merging the system with school education under a CBSE-style 11th and 12th class structure. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials to ensure that students do not face difficulties during the admission process.
The decision came after recent confusion over reports that Intermediate admissions would be temporarily halted as part of the proposed restructuring. The issue triggered concern among students and parents across Telangana. The Chief Minister held a review meeting with senior officials, including MP Vem Narender Reddy and Telangana Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao.
According to the Telangana Education Commission, the state should gradually replace the separate Intermediate system with Classes 11 and 12 on the CBSE model. Officials believe the present structure contributes to student dropouts after Class 10, particularly among government school students who fail to join separate junior colleges. The proposed reform is aimed at improving continuity in education and reducing dropout rates.
However, the government clarified that several technical and administrative issues linked to the merger still require detailed examination. The Chief Minister instructed officials to conduct wider consultations with stakeholders before implementing any major reform. A final decision will be taken only after a committee submits its report and discussions are held in the Telangana Legislative Assembly.
