Insect Found in Vande Bharat Train Food, IRCTC Acts

అహ్మదాబాద్ నుంచి ముంబై వెళ్తున్న వందే భారత్ రైలులో ఓ ప్రయాణికుడు ఆర్డర్ చేసిన దాల్-చావల్లో పురుగు కనిపించిందని ఆరోపించాడు. ఈ ఘటనను వీడియోగా తీసి సోషల్ మీడియాలో షేర్ చేయడంతో విషయం బయటపడింది. ఒకే కోచ్లో ఇలాంటి ఘటనలు మరికొన్ని జరిగాయని ప్రయాణికుడు పేర్కొన్నాడు.
ఈ ఘటనపై ప్రయాణికులు తీవ్ర ఆగ్రహం వ్యక్తం చేస్తూ రైల్వే క్యాటరింగ్ సేవల నాణ్యతపై ప్రశ్నలు లేవనెత్తారు. ఆహారం FSSAI ప్రమాణాలకు అనుగుణంగా లేదని, సంబంధిత సంస్థపై కఠిన చర్యలు తీసుకోవాలని డిమాండ్ చేశారు.
ఈ ఘటనపై ఇండియన్ రైల్వే క్యాటరింగ్ అండ్ టూరిజం కార్పొరేషన్ (IRCTC) వెంటనే స్పందించింది. సంబంధిత వెండర్పై రూ.10 లక్షల జరిమానా విధించడంతో పాటు కాంట్రాక్ట్ రద్దు నోటీసు జారీ చేసింది. అలాగే వంటగదిని మూసివేసి పరిశుభ్రత, కీటక నియంత్రణ చర్యలు చేపట్టినట్లు తెలిపింది.
ప్రయాణికుల భద్రత, ఆహార నాణ్యతకు అత్యంత ప్రాధాన్యత ఇస్తామని IRCTC స్పష్టం చేసింది. ఇటువంటి నిర్లక్ష్యంపై కఠిన చర్యలు కొనసాగుతాయని పేర్కొంది.
A passenger traveling on the Ahmedabad–Mumbai Vande Bharat Express alleged that an insect was found in the dal-chawal served onboard. The incident came to light after the passenger recorded a video and shared it on social media, raising concerns about food quality in premium trains.
According to the passenger, similar incidents occurred in the same coach, prompting several travelers to stop consuming the provided meals. The issue quickly gained attention online, with users questioning hygiene standards and food safety practices.
Passengers demanded strict action against the catering agency, alleging violations of FSSAI standards. They urged railway authorities to cancel the vendor’s license if found guilty.
Responding swiftly, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) imposed a fine of ₹10 lakh on the vendor and issued a contract termination notice. The kitchen facility linked to the supplier was reportedly sealed for deep cleaning and pest control measures.
IRCTC stated that passenger safety and hygiene remain top priorities and assured that strict action will be taken against any lapse in service standards.
