ఆదిలాబాద్ జిల్లా కేంద్రంగా తెలంగాణలో విమానయాన రంగానికి పెద్ద ఊతం లభించనుంది. కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం చేపట్టిన ఉడాన్ 2.0 పథకం కింద ఆదిలాబాద్లో కొత్త విమానాశ్రయం ఏర్పాటు చేయనున్నట్లు కేంద్ర మంత్రి కింజరాపు రామ్మోహన్ నాయుడు వెల్లడించారు.
ఈ పథకం ద్వారా దేశవ్యాప్తంగా విమానయాన సౌకర్యాలను విస్తరించేందుకు భారీ ప్రణాళికలు సిద్ధమయ్యాయి. తెలంగాణలో ఆదిలాబాద్తో పాటు ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్లో నాగార్జునసాగర్ ప్రాంతంలో కూడా కొత్త విమానాశ్రయాల నిర్మాణానికి మార్గం సుగమమైంది. ఇప్పటికే ఉన్న ఎయిర్ స్ట్రిప్లను అభివృద్ధి చేసి పూర్తి స్థాయి విమానాశ్రయాలుగా మార్చడం ఈ పథకం ప్రధాన లక్ష్యంగా ఉందని మంత్రి తెలిపారు.
ఆదిలాబాద్లో ప్రస్తుతం రక్షణ శాఖ ఆధీనంలో ఉన్న ఎయిర్ స్ట్రిప్ను స్వాధీనం చేసుకోకుండా, దాని సమీప భూములను సేకరించి కొత్త సివిల్ ఎయిర్పోర్టును నిర్మించనున్నట్లు స్పష్టం చేశారు. అలాగే హైదరాబాద్ బేగంపేట విమానాశ్రయంలో రన్వే కింద ట్రాఫిక్ టన్నెల్ నిర్మాణానికి కేంద్రం సూత్రప్రాయంగా అంగీకరించిందని తెలిపారు.
వరంగల్ మామునూరు విమానాశ్రయ ప్రాజెక్ట్ ప్రస్తుతం వివిధ శాఖల పరిశీలనలో ఉందని, త్వరలోనే శంకుస్థాపనకు ప్రయత్నాలు జరుగుతున్నాయని వెల్లడించారు. ఈ అభివృద్ధి పనులు పూర్తైతే తెలంగాణలో విమాన కనెక్టివిటీ మెరుగుపడి పర్యాటకం, పరిశ్రమలకు కొత్త అవకాశాలు ఏర్పడనున్నాయి.

Adilabad district in Telangana is set to receive a major boost in aviation connectivity under the Central government’s UDAN 2.0 scheme. Union Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu announced plans to develop a new airport in Adilabad as part of the initiative.
Under UDAN 2.0, the government aims to expand regional air connectivity across the country. Along with Adilabad in Telangana, Nagarjunasagar in Andhra Pradesh has also been identified for the development of a new airport. The scheme focuses on upgrading existing airstrips into fully functional airports to improve accessibility.
The minister clarified that the existing defence airstrip in Adilabad will not be taken over. Instead, additional land adjacent to it will be acquired to build a civil airport. He also stated that the Centre has given in-principle approval for constructing a traffic tunnel beneath the runway at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, the Warangal Mamnoor airport project is currently under inter-departmental consultation, with efforts underway to lay the foundation soon. Once completed, these developments are expected to significantly enhance connectivity, boost tourism, and drive economic growth in Telangana.
